I'd say Discovery over all, which is weird, because I love the character of Picard. The problem with both, though, is that it is written by, and probably for, people who fundamentally hold the core philosophy of previous Star Trek in utter contempt. They're both philosophical re-imaginings of the show away from the Enlightenment values which were the core of Star Trek's message up to the end of Voyager, and towards a more post colonial view of humanity's vision in space. They're fine enough TV but, man, it's a bit like doing a dark and gritty revisit of a funny, lighthearted sitcom like The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air - so off the expected message and tone that one has to wonder why someone would throw something like that at an audience which grew up with the original.
Again, they're both fine enough TV, but they feel like skinsuits of Star Trek rather than Star Trek, and they're not really what I signed up for. At this point they've dropped pretty low on my "to watch" priority, and I've been a Star Trek fan for decades. Don't really have a problem with that - just how I look at the state of Star Trek. I love the old stuff and if this is new Trek, that's enough for me.
