Any funny stories?

I worked on a state house campaign several years ago and am banking for the Sanders campaign currently. I think my two favorite moments were (1) a coworker accidentally asking a lady about the "general erection" and (2) being called a n*gger by a old white man. Also, I once had to hang up in the middle of a call because I couldn't stop laughing at the fact that the dialed constituent sounded exactly like Hulk Hogan.

By the way, for the plethora of Sanders supporters on this board, I'll shamelessly link you to Sanders' phone banking page (https://go.berniesanders.com/page/content/phonebank). You can do it from home, at school, or anywhere where you can access a computer and a cell phone at the same time. Good way to pass the time and make yourself feel like you're contributing to the political process.

You can look up the ones for D-Money, Hillary, and Cruz. @theBLADE1 @HendoRuaGOAT

FYI, for Sanders' calling platform you don't hear the ringing of the call: you just get the person answering. Saves resources so callers aren't wasted on no-answers, but it catches you off-guard.

On reddit r/the_donald raided the phone banks of r/sanders4president and started using them to try and get Dems to switch parties to help Trump win the primary this past week.

It's a wild time. I'm pretty sure most of the call lists are just registered voters, though.

I gotta look up a the thread but I think someone on r/sanders4president built an app to make it easier or something.

r/the_Donald is my new favorite subreddit. That place is hilarious (for the record I hate Trump)

Depending on what was stored, it could definitely be a huge asset. If they were post-contact lists where the constituents were marked as being "strong dem" versus unsure or "leaning republican," it'd be a huge tool for getting independents and moderate conservatives.

Haha, I assumed as much. I've never gotten into Reddit. The layout confuses me. Same with Twitter. But I'd be very interested to see a study of the role that Reddit/Imgur played in popularizing Sanders support.

Also, the Sanders support seems really strong in my home state of IL. 6 of my last 7 contacts have been devoted Sanders supporters. One of them was even a 51-yo guy who was on the other line doing his own phone banking. Another was an 83-year old who had already donated a cool K to the campaign.

Get out there, fellas

I always wondered what kind of idiots are spending their precious time trying to get someone that doesn't know them or care about them hired for a job.

While this is the first campaign job I've done for free (I have worked for a State House Rep and House Rep before), it's also one that I feel is particularly important and which, in my opinion, bears a particularly stark contrast in candidates. Sorry man, democracy is hard for some people. I guess I'm just not so smart as to realize that the federal executive's actions have absolutely no bearing on the direction of my country.

If you need someone to personally care about you to promote their efforts for elected office, that speaks much more about your intellectual depth than it does about the impropriety of my usage of my free time.

Here is the thing. I'm kind of an asshole, I don't really care about other people, my concern is 80% out of self interest. I'm pretty sure that Bernie is a actual bleeding heart. He really does give a shit about you. I can't prove that to you, but Bernie is worth about 500K. I know production workers his age worth more. He has had plenty of chances to sell his vote or influence as others do, and is the status quo today, and he hasn't.

I know we are all programmed to believe that no one could ever get elected that actually gives a shit, but to quote the movie dumb and dumber

I get extra points for this post, as it looks like Jim Carrey is looking up at my AV.

I have have been doing some phone banking lately and I have had a few funny experiences myself. Don't quite have the time to share right now ill tell all when I get spare time.

Until then here's Shillary conveniently forgetting the past......

I struggle with the phone banking. I find it difficult to convey complex ideas verbally. I try to keep it simple, but most people raised questions that required complex explanations.

I did about 6 calls, and decided I was better on-line. I register for local papers before primary races, and shill for Bernie.

See im the opposite lol. Online ill get pissed and call somebody a dumb cunt, whereas in person/over the phone, I can better articulate for Bernie and his policies rather eloquently.
