The fact that guys like Renat Khavalov, Patrick Habirora, Amru Magomedov etc. Get signed by PFL and passed over by the UFC is kinda wild, these are the S tier prospects and 95% of contender series guys are not. If PFL actually plans for a long term, then its cool but it does feel like a waste. Amru went with PFL because UFC passed him over, they dont want Russians.

You mention Islam. He is at the tail end of his career. Amru is the next generation of elite LWs from that camp. A camp that gave us Khabib and Islam. The two greatest LWs in UFC history. Same camp is also claiming Amru is the future and anyone who has watched him fight can see that. I think missing out on such a elite talent is a big loss. I dont think it will change the bottom line, nothing stops the UFC machine but the fans definitely lose out.

Fans at the end of the day want good exciting fights and this guy delivers that.

Umar is in UFC.

Thank you! I forgot which brother was which. I think the UFC is willing to let PFL spend money on young guys like Amru to see if they work out.... even if they make champion in PFL PFL loses money then the UFC can pay them when they know they aren't new kids asking for too much money

P.s. why do you think the UFC missed out by not signing Paul Hughes? He has 200k followers and hasn't made the PFL a dime and lost to a Nurma brother twice.... seems like they didn't waste money on a good but not great fighter.... the ufc has a ton of good fighters that they sign without hype for less money and some work out great

When I say UFC missed out I dont mean on a business sense. Like UFC can continue to sign bottom of the barrel DWCS fighters and still be UFC. My POV is more the UFC fans. Hughes in UFC would have been an instant fan favorite and a star.

I understand your point, I'll agree to disagree.... DWCS brought us Sean Omalley, Jamahal Hill, JDM, Kevin Holland, Turner.... I'd say all of those guys have more upside than Hughes and they were supposedly bottom of the barrel... I'd say the ufc knows how to run an mma promotion more than you do... they also likely know how to negotiate a contract and sign prospects better as well

Also, how did they drop the ball with Paul Hughes? Hughes is pretty decent, but he's not some needle mover. Losing twice in a row to Usman didn't help him either.

How do we know Usman N. is elite? "He beat Paul Hughes!"

How do we know Hughes is elite? "He had two close fights with Usman!"

Mix was supposed to be elite as well and look how he turned out the moment he came to the UFC. Losing to a mid level guy and then a debutant lol.

yeah that sucks. UFC def missing out on guys from that region but dont get the not signing Hughes bit the UFC in the ass take. How exactly? Yeah UFC should have signed him, most hardcore fans would rather UFC pick up every prospect thats perceived as elite coming up but how has that hurt the UFC in any way?

UFC winning the mma war and making so much money is they dont need anyone, dont care about anyone. THey can dump Ngannou, let Jones retire, Conor not fight and not miss a beat and still sign 8 billion dollar deal.
 
The UFC is trying to reduce the amount of "evs" & "ovs" as they already have met their DEI requirements

They do not want this

Khamzat is their DEI champ which they have to tolerate

Belal, Ank & Mak no longer having the belts is a sigh of relief for the UFC
