I've been high on Marcus, fuck it, give him a huge matchup. Guy is like 34 at BW, not like he has a ton of time left. If he somehow catches and sparks Yan unconscious, BW is shaken up. Yan usually starts slow and Marcus has shown to blast out of the gate, yet proved himself capable over a longer fight beating #10 Martinez with dominant 30-27s across the board.

I wouldn't call the Martinez fight dominant. He just barely threw anything and still almost stopped him with leg kicks.

If you're #2 on a 2 fight win streak over the guys at #6 and #5, then getting booked against #13 is pretty head scratching. We can call it not random based on how the booking looks right now, but that just means the booking has been fucked.

But nevertheless, if Yan were to sit around & wait for Suga/Merab to unfold, & if Suga were to win in the rematch, you know the ufc gonna make the trilogy fight. & by that time Umar would most likely be ready to go again, & the ufc would match Yan up with Umar. Yan deserves the next title shot no matter how the cookie crumbles with Merab/Suga 2, but I have a feeling the ufc is waiting for Umar to get back in the mix of things to match him & Yan up against each other. So it's either wait around for Merab/Suga to happen & hope Merab wins again, or stay active, beat the shit outta his next opponent, & leave no doubt that he's the next guy in line with an argument he gets next shot if Suga wins & or upon Umar's return.

I remember Marcus being dangerous in the first against Martinez, and then subsequently jabbing and pointing him the next two rounds. I don’t think he can do that to Petr. Someone who will make him work and trap him.
