Hot Take Petr Yan showed the path to beating Khamzat.

Khamzat’s kryptonite doesn’t seem to be guys with great takedown defense, but guys who can actually submit him — true world-class BJJ operators of championship level.

At 170, that was Gilbert Burns. We saw what happened in that fight. At 185, the only one with similar BJJ credentials is Robocop (Gregory Rodrigues). I'm quite sure that Khamzat would run into very serious problems in a fight with Robocop. He’s simply not going to control or submit a BJJ practitioner of that caliber.

On the contrary, in a fight like that, Khamzat would face a very real risk of getting submitted himself — and just like in the Burns fight, he’d be forced to keep it standing, where he’s absolutely in danger of getting KO'ed.
Robocop is way worse than you think he is...

What about fluffy Hernandez?

Look up his BJJ credentials. His grappling is way better than his striking. Also, he's bigger than Khamzat. Robocop does have flaws, but he's exactly the one that would present the most difficult matchup for Khamzat at MW.

I don't think he stands a chance. I envision the outcome would be similar to Khamzat vs Kevin Holland.

Robocop literally sucks.... he gets knocked out in 3 minutes.

Khamzat top control is x100 that of Merab

i don't know, to me, Merab and Khamzat are not the same. Merab has what Khamzat wishes he had in cardio, and Khamzat's takedown and control is light years ahead of Merab's. Petr was able to do what he did because of Merab's style of forcing the action to wear guys. he will force it even if he has to get sloppy and gets too eager on the feet. he's going to inevitably leave himself open and walk into strikes. Khamzat is not like that. he's not trying to force you into acting because he's the one with the limited cardio. but because of that he's a sniper. he's going to wait and shoot at the perfect time for himself.

to beat Khamzat you have to force him to shoot bad shots, which means you have to pressure him and walk forward, and attack first. just like Pereira did to Ank in the 2nd fight.

Robocop is fuckin AWESOME

Any real fight fan thinks so.

Because of all the wars he has been involved in

(TOTAL DEVOTION TO THE JUST BLEED GOD)

His chin can go at any time, so he can be hot or cold, it's understandable.

But no way you can count that guy out. That guy is violence personified.

Two completley different fighters.

It’s a shame he got to the title without facing elite MW BJJ guys like Rodolfo and without facing anyone with explosive strength and TDD like Costa. Now he thinks there is no challenge for him at the MW, when in reality we all know that styles make fights.

it's hard to match him properly when he only fights once a year.

I posted this last year and without being too big headed I think Yan kind of followed the blueprint I thought would work.
For some reason you think people will care about your post and that you need to remain humble over something 20 people read on the internet. Like you won him the fight. You just wrote some relatively basic vague general stuff.

Two way different fighters.

Khamzat is actually dangerous. He get 99 out of every 100 takedown. And he keep them down.

Merab spam failed takedowns. He gets maybe 12 out of 100. And the 12 takedown he gets, the other guy gets back up in short time..
This lol. Khamzat's wrestling is on a different dimension than Merabs nonsense style of bullshit

He plans to move to 205 and maybe Ank can do that to him, maybe. Don't see anyone else at 205 that could do that to him

I was hoping he predicted the elbowing of the forearms when Merab had his hands clasped but alas he did not
