People who talk during movies

Thats two days in a row

Stopped going to most theatres years ago because of light pollution from cell phones plus the young people never shut the fuck up. The only movies I go to now are showings of older films because the crowd is mostly people who allready love the movie and are respectful.

It's one of the reasons why I mostly go to the early bird showings on Sundays. Usually the theater is completely empty. Another pet peeve is watching movies at home and someone is playing on their phone instead of watching the movie. My brother in law and ex wife were both very bad about that. Even worst when they would miss something important and then be like "what happened ?" (it's like your sitting 7 feet from the TV why don't you tell me)

Is there anything more infuriating?

We're at Killers of the Flower Moon when two pairs of couples come and sit by us in our row.

The entire fucking time, these people were making commentary about the movie that was like this:

Man: Look at how small that tree is in the background.
Woman: OMG it's tiny!
Man: I bet it's like 200ft tall up close.
Woman: Yes I was thinking the same thing!

Of course when I ask them to please stop talking, they respond with "You stop talking, you're the one talking!". I'm like look, you've already ruined the movie for everyone around you, just please let us enjoy the ending. The guy responds "What is this a library? I can talk if I want. You don't own the place.".

What was insane was these people were like 60 years old, yet sounded like a bunch of 12 year olds. I don't know how these 4 dipshits came to find each other in life but I was ready to go to jail at that point. I haven't been that pissed off in forever.

Has anyone ever actually shut the fuck up when asked during a movie or does the scene always seem to play out like that?

Reminds me of this from Tom Segura . . .

Sucks it ruined your movie. I would think if you actually say something they'd quiet down not get confrontational. Guess not. I was at the sphere in Vegas and the actual show sucked. I woulda killed for this couple at that show, way more entertaining

When I went to see The Batman, there was a couple in the row in front of me who kept talking and switching on their phones. Eventually I got so pissed off I kicked the back of their seats hard enough to nearly pitch them both into the aisle.

They didn't say another word for the rest of the movie:)

It's ego and being inconsiderate. Add it to a test to test if someone has shit character.

Remember being in an "urban" area in the states on a business trip. Decided to kill some time one night and went to see Flight.

75% of the theater felt the need to have their commentary heard, full volume.

Most people have no self awareness coupled with extreme egos and insecurity, sitting in silence with ones own thoughts, or lack there of is impossible even when they've actively sought out such an experience...

Go to films where it's likely people will respect the time...

For the price film companies charge to provide their film to be show they should factor in some concern for this, where they encourage or even fund "security" or old timey ushers who escort people out for being asswipes...

Should have thrown your drink in their faces.

SPLASH!

This is actually a decent idea of they're a few rows ahead of you and there won't be too much splash damage to innocents. Tossed $10 pop they can't trace back to you...

Fuck, man. As an avid movie-goer, I experience this shit all the time. It irritates me to no end. Sometimes I want to get up and slap some manners into these people. But there is no winning. It happens so often that I would be getting into confrontations all the damn time, which I don't want to do. People are inconsiderate and have shitty manners these days. Young and old. Makes no difference.

If slapping people who are rude and inconsiderate were perfectly legal, then I would be handing out slaps at the movie theater like candy.

Have you ever asked anyone to be quiet and had them to be anything other than shitty back to you?

When my brother and I saw The Winter Soldier, we went at a pretty strange time- maybe a little after 4. So it wasn’t packed but wasn’t empty either. There was a group of teenagers about three rows in front of us and a dad with his two kids about two rows behind.

The teens were surprisingly good through the vast majority of the run time but toward the end of the film, they broke out their phones, were casually talking to one another, etc.

The dad with his two kids yells out to the one kid who is talking at the moment “hey Chump! There’s a movie on.”

The kids stopped talking but spent the remaining final five minutes of the film mean mugging this guy who didn’t seem phased in the slightest.

Respect to the guy but I also found it hilarious that he used the word chump.
