In expected Sherdoggo fashion, Francis' loss in the war with Stipe leaves a great deal of historical revisionism in its wake.
I have little hope that my sentiments would not fall upon deaf ears but it is hope nevertheless.
People who hyped him up for UFC 220 were stupid, yes. But it was them, not him. Francis Ngannou is a good man and a good fighter.
The man holds the record for the highest punching power, eclipsing the prior record by over 14,000.00 units.
He is young, and very new to the sport.
His only two losses are by decision. Granted one of them was a one sided ass-beating, but that was against the champion.
He's not going anywhere for a while. Top contender.
When people overhype someone and that fabrication has been excavated, the proper adjustment is not to downplay or diminish the fighter himself or his accomplishments in the UFC.
We sometimes joke about how nobody cares what Sherdog users, as individuals or collectively, have to say. That may be true. It might not be so true.
But whether it's true or not is irrelevant in this particular context, and the context is that words should matter. Excessive hyperbole and outright falsehood lobbed in attempts to clarify one's perspective is unhelpful and muddies useful thought.
This isn't a troll thread, I'm serious. All of you know that I called Stipe to win. He did. That's no reason to misrepresent Francis. He's given us remarkable fights, including this last one. He'll give us many more.
Respect.
