As a kid I watched Pee Wee’s Playhouse but didn’t care much about Big Adventure.

I never watched Ernest’s show but loved his movies.

I have better memories of watching stuff like Ernest Scared Stupid so I’ll go with Jim. Know what I mean, Vern?

Pee Wee > Ernest

But I have a soft spot for Ernest and his Blake’s Lotaburger commercials, their green chile burgers and burritos are fantastic…

you know what I mean Vern

Saw one of those commercials posted for the first time in like 30 years the other day.

Pee Wee and it's not even close.
Buncha rubes in here voting Earnest.
To be fair, he got caught whacking off in an adult theatre and was mocked by talk show hosts for a long time so most parents knew he was caught whacking off in a theatre. I was 11 years old at the time and im pretty sure he was erased. When the transformers stopped making new episodes when i was young, i watched reruns for a few years and moved on. PeeWee just vanished and i don't remember giving a fuck. to be honest, I don't even remember his stuff

Ernest movies were a big part of the late 80's and early 90's when i was age 8-14 and my friends watched that shit lol

They had so many of them!

I remember they would come on all of the time during Saturday morning cartoons..

For the rest of the day all of the little kids would be running around saying “Vern, Vern, Vern, Vern..Vern”.

Ernest never hit for me. A little too cheesy. I loved Pee Wee for all the reasons I guess anyone did. I actually find his off the wall lunacy funnier now than I did as a kid. The character was obviously super weird but Reubens made it funny.

For anyone born in the 70's, this goes to Pee-Wee and it's not close. But Ernest was a bigger presence after Pee-Wee got blacklisted in 1991 for spanking it in a porn theater which in hindsight was a big deal over nothing. It's not like he molested someone or did anything worthy of getting his toyline pulled by Toys R Us, Disney walking away from him, etc.

Damn, this is a seriously close poll. I’m glad I made this thread, I was hoping it would be close and not a blow out one way or the other.

Peewee was such a goober. To me, he's like a kid's version of Gomer Pyle. I have never understood what in the hell the appeal of that character was to people in the 50's. One of the least funny schticks that ever got popular as far as I'm concerned.

Ernest was pretty great at times.

The 50's? When did you think this was, lol? That said, Ernest was way better. I litterally have every Ernest goes to and Ernest saves movie, because my son loves Ernest. If thats not proof of how much better Ernest is then Pee Wee, i dont know what is. My kid is 16 for reference.

I think he was referring to the Andy Griffith show, as that’s what Gomer Pyle was from (not to be confused with Full Metal Jacket Gomer Pyle) when he was talking about the 1950s.
