Media Paulo Costa says He Hasn't Signed the Contract for UFC 298 Yet

He says this every time he's booked for a fight lol. He's the only person who ever says this.

Yeah, it's happened to others before but he pretty much does this every single time he is announced to have a fight. According to Dana, it's in their contract that he HAS to offer them 3 fights a year or he still has to pay them for the fights, if he doesn't....

I think Pullout Paula is doing exactly that, pulling out.
1. There's no such thing as pulling out of a fight that you never signed the dotted line on. The only thing there is is the illusion of a pullout that the UFC deliberately manufactured as a strongarming tactic. Next up is Dana up at the podium doing his usual "So and so doesn't want the fight" routine. The fans who don't like said fighter or have a certain narrative going will hop on the company bandwagon as an opportunity to trash them.

2. We don't know how often fighters relent to signing contracts that they otherwise wouldn't have as a result of the UFC announcing the fight to the public before it was a done deal. We also don't know how often they don't but it slips our attention due to the involved parties not having the kind of name and/or social media presence that Costa does. Maybe Costa just doesn't want to play this game? If he truly didn't want to fight Whittaker for whatever reason, I don't see what reason he'd have for verbally agreeing to it in any capacity.

3. We'll have to see what happens. If the fight goes on, great. If not, blame the UFC for getting your hopes up. Costa didn't get in front of a camera and break this announcement before he had signed the bout agreement. Dana did, and I highly doubt Costa even knew he was going to.

Not getting my hopes up. I'd like to never see Paula Costa mentioned again and would prefer he just go away altogether. He's 100% a waste of a roster spot.

Or just another case of Pullout Paulo showing his best attribute since joining the UFC. Not fighting.
So he is making up thay he hasn't received a contract? This place is so fucking weirf when it comes to Costa.

Probably because he's a turd and a waste of a roster spot.

Why is he a turd or why is he a waste of a roster spot?

Turd:
- Talks a bunch of crap, never ever ever shows up to fight
- Calls out for fights with a LW while being a HW that cuts down to MW
- Pulls some bullshit against Marvin Vettori, deciding he doesn't feel like cutting weight for this fight so says lets do 195 then decides nah, I'd rather not do that either so a week out, lets change it to 205, meanwhile this other dude is getting his weight down while fuckboy over here is just being an asshole, trying to get an advantage.....still ends up getting tooled
- Jokes about taking steroids all the time and walks around with a big stupid jug saying Secret Juice
- Talked like a big toughey for a year straight about a guy who was "too skinny" to do anything to him then proceeded to get airfucked in the ass by him by the entire world
- Managed to make Luke Rockhold of all people, someone to cheer for in the middle of a fight

Waste of roster spot:
- Some of the above points are applicable to this
- Has 0 wins over someone still on the UFC roster. Has yet to prove he can beat a decent fighter who isn't on their way out.

They're making it clear that they won't be leveraged by a disgruntled fighter.

I can't fully support Costa though because he could've just fought out his contract against whatever bad match ups that they wanted to give him and been out of the promotion a while ago.

He's consenting to being held in limbo.
I see where they are coming from but since see Acosta trying to look out for his own best interest. It's hard to make a living fighting if you end up 0-6. He doesn't have the charm people like the Diaz bros do.

You're talking like there's a limitation to roster spots. They can have as many people as they want under contract, and they don't actually have to pay out if someone doesn't want to fight.

They're not letting him go to demonstrate the fact that they're the ones who dictate terms and that the contracts are only over when they say so.

Looking out for his own best interest would be fighting out his contract. He spent years sitting around doing nothing.

They keep booking him for fights he pulls out of though. Give someone else the spot who will accept and stop wasting fights on this jabroni.

Its just so hard to care because he always has an excuse to not fight, its beyond boring and lame now. He just barely ever fights, and when the time gets closer too the bout thats when some new "mysterious" issue pops up and he is out. I think UFC should just cut him and be done with him.. rarely ever fights and isn't good enough to keep around. The decision win over 44 year old Romero a very long time ago is as good as its gets.

Whittaker shouldn't waste his time with this guy. Hope to see Whittaker fight someone else please

And even that wasn't "good" I had it for Romero just barely

You're not wrong. I was merely playing the devils advocate. Maybe he's just not that good? He must make money doing something else as his main profession
