Paul McCartney was the worst Beatle

Super hot take and I know a bunch of you are going to shit on me for it but I was listening to some old music and it dawned on me that I've never heard a Paul McCartney song that I liked. Except for Say say say, which the one he did with Michael Jackson. And then there are a few Beatles songs I like too, but obviously those were collaborations with the other band members.

But his solo work is shit. Simply having a wonderful Christmas time is one of the most annoying and repetitive songs ever. Live and let die is so bad that I can't even enjoy the guns 'n roses cover of it, even though I love GNR. Band on the run has one good riff during the "if I ever get out of here" part, but then he ruins it by completely changing it into a different song that's very bland. He should've made that one guitar riff into it's own song, but he ruined it.

And I find a play list online of Paul's greatest hits and I listened just looking for one song I like and I can't find it.

Music is subjective and all that but it's strange that everyone thinks he was maybe the best Beatle (although many say it was Lennon), whereas I can't find a single good song.

There are solo songs from the other 3 that I really enjoy, even Ringo. But Paul just doesn't do it for me.

Ok now go ahead, tell me I'm crazy.
Agreed, John has to temper his corniness, it all came out when solo.
Some people dont seem to understand subjective? We've all heard the songs.

The Paul McCartney/Michael Jackson songs are ass, lets just be honest. If we're including collaborations then everything George Harrison did with the Traveling Wilburys is so much better.

One can't dismiss them as mere collaborations. They're songs that he either co-wrote (ex. The Girl is Mine) or wrote all by himself (ex. Say Say Say; Ebony and Ivory).

And I'll take McCartney's solo hits over these Traveling Wilbury collaborations with Ringo any day. They're fine, but pedestrian and forgettable in comparison. Nothing in them stands out compared to the raw emotion you get in Maybe I'm Amazed, and the melodies don't have any of the enduring earworm power like you find in Junk or Ebony and Ivory.

John was the best songwriter. Paul and George are quite different with respect to songwriting, but both were great. It's hard to rate one over the other. No way Ringo is above Paul imho, but to each their own.

Paul's the best songwriter. He was the best singer and the best songwriter. We can see that if we distill the individually credited or primary credited hits. He was the greatest Beatle.

- I dont like The Beatles, and i am a huge boy band fan. But i like his solo work, for me as a person that only apreciates music, his solo work seens superior to when Paul was in the band. Also he came here last year, and was incredably nice.

It was surely original bassist Stuart Sutcliffe (cheating a bit), would need to invent a new word for how silly it is to say McCartney.

"The worst Beatle" is to me like the worst player on the Minnesota Vikings' defensive line in the 1970s. Even the worst one was pretty effing amazing.

I couldn’t disagree more

Paul not only wrote the highest proportion of the absolute best Beatles songs. He also had the best non-Beatles catalog. And that’s from somebody who loves Harrison’s solo output and definitely respects the absolute highs of Lennons(though John released a lot of dogshit solo)

Paul wrote “She Came in Through the Bathroom Window” which in my view is a perfect song.

He also wrote the innovative proto-metal “Helter Skelter”, though I’ll also give John love for “I want you(she’s so heavy)”

When I was younger I was always more drawn to Lennon’s edge and Harrison’s spaciness. Paul is no doubt kinda hokey and less “cool” but when it came down to it, Paul was the motor for every Beatles record. He was also the best all around musician, vocalist, composer and conceptual artist in The Beatles.
