A good move for Craig to move down, since he is coming off two losses against top ten guys. A couple of wins against top ten guys at 185, can have him in the mix for a title shot- given how Adesanya has basically cleaned up the division and potentially looking at fighting Whittaker a 3rd time.

Ignoring guys like DJ who are were forced to fight too large, few do better but some do pretty well:

Edgar, Aldo Cannonier, Barboza, bunch of other guys who moved up and down in no particular order but did well at the lower weight (Hendo, Chael, Vitor, Shields/Diaz/Lawler, Penn, etc.)

Its easier to move around and be competitive at the smaller weights. I think 205 to 185 is one of the most difficult changes in divisions as its 20lbs vs 10lbs for the lighter weight classes

Can't see this going well for him. Moving down the scale later in your career when you're not a fast fighter, and are chinny rarely works out. I like Paul, and hope to be wrong. But trying to fix a skid by changing weight classes never really seems like the best idea. He'll still have the same faults at 185, that he did at 205. There's still big hitters and great strikers at the weight class. Just now he's going to be focusing on weight for good portions of his camp, instead of building himself and his skill set.

To do that he'd have to become fat. That is a sacrifice your average fighter isn't willing to make if they were HW wouldn't suck so bad.
