Opinion Passionate Takedown of String Theory

It's been many years since I sunk my teethe into all this so somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but Quantum Physics and the strange aspects surrounding it are still present even if String Theory ends up being nonsense, correct? That was just one theory to explain what happens on the quantum level, but absent that there is still strange multidimensional shit within Quantum Physics yet to be explained?

Brah, it is in the video
Brah, I already told you I'm not watching a one hour video of whining about string theory, brah. Hit me with a couple from your recollection of the video since you watched it, brah. And science communication has always been hard. That's partly why lot's of people thought string theory was something it wasn't--it's not entirely the fault of people who put in the effort to communicate about it.

If you take issue with a point she makes in the video, and I know your counter point isn't refuted in the same video, I will try to reply to it.

LOL posts no cliffs of an hour long video, refute me, I dare you... lol... not even so much as a couple of time stamps, "brah"? Why the fuck are you replying to me in this manner when I already told you it's not worth my time to watch that youtube rando's video? What makes you or her special that you think I would devote time to that when I decline to watch all the other youtube randos people post on here for the same fucking reason--I don't give clicks to youtube randos who are obviously just out for clicks? Who the fuck is she anyway and why should I care about her opinion? You never even provided that much to go on. Is she your girlfriend or some shit?

In the OP i explain she is a scientist with an opinion on science.

Yes, correct, well, to the limit of my understanding anyway lol. It was an attempt at an explanation but it failed due to being impossible to verify experimentally--among other things, though the multi-dimensional shit is also totally theoretical.

As far as I know, the most likely evidence for the existence of extra dimensions is the relatively low strength of gravity compared with the other fundamental forces. Some believe that in reality gravity is within the same basic range--simplifying here so forgive me for taking liberties, actual physicists--as the other fundamental forces but what we perceive as the missing bit manifests itself in another dimension we can't perceive. Now, I am a layman and don't know for a fact that's the leading theory about the cause of the relative weakness of gravity but of everything I have studied, heard, and read over my lifetime of following science topics it makes the most sense to me intuitively.

Is String Theory is like philosophy or religion, what do you think fuels public interest in it? I consume some String Theory content through Rogan / PBS Spacetime, and I think it is interesting, but is a nickle worth of interest all it has been?
No, it's actual science that can explain how things work with additional dimensions we can't detect, but for it to be a theory it needs to make predictions we can test to verify it has any basis in fact.

I don't know that Quantum Physics itself predicts extra dimensions, it's just that at that scale particles don't behave the way we're used to, but String Theory thinks that the particles we see are actually vibrating strings of different shapes hidden by extra dimensions. All we can perceive in our 4 dimensional reality is a thin slice of the string which makes them appear like particles. The way an olive inside cheese would appear like a ring if you cut off a slice.

There are two different theories that explain most of the universe. The standard model predicts how the smallest bits of matter behave. Relativity describes large scale structures like the universe, space, and time. The two theories don't go together, and you can't use them together, so we don't know how the whole universe works, leaving mysteries like the big bang, how black holes work, and so on. Some people think that there should be a formula that puts them together, so that relativity has a description on small scale components of gravity and time.

String theory was supposed to bridge the gap and put the two theories together, but it never was able to produce anything, and now many physicists believe that there is no reason that there should be a way to combine them. There is no experimental evidence, or observations, to make anyone believe that there is even a reason to merge those two theories, other than we have a taste for something like that existing.

String theory has tons of beautiful ideas, cool math, and a lot of the smartest people sunk cost in decades trying to make it work, but it hasn't. Worse, string theorists were so effective at publicly advocating for it, and lied to make it sound like it was the next best thing, that it put a lot of people off.
What's the point of advocating or promoting it? It's not a product
