News Parker vs Bakole set for Saturday

He claims To have stopped Usyk in sparring. His fights dont reflect that level at all.

He also claims that he "stopped" Dubois twice in sparring and broke his nose. Team Usyk has publicly denied it and said that they'll release the footage. Team Dubois has also denied Bakole's claims. I've seen pictures of Joyce beating up Bakole in sparring. There's a video on the Propa Boxing YouTube channel that discusses it.

There are holes in Bakole's story about Usyk that've already been highlighted (video below). Team Usyk also said that Itauma was the future of the division. We know that Joe Joyce has gotten the better of Bakole in sparring on at least one occasion.

They might be right. But Its impossible to tell from this fight.

They recognize the skills and athleticism that Itauma has. Maybe he'll live up to his potential, maybe he won't.

‘Big future’ – Oleksandr Usyk backs fast-rising boxer to succeed him as heavyweight king

As for Bakole maybe he did get the better of some of the top fighters in sparring at times but that isn't to say that it's never gone the other way around. We know that it has. If Joe Joyce has you on your knees puking in a bucket then you've got problems. He's a punching bag.

As far as late replacements go, this is great. Still, I don’t like Bakole on such short notice. I get why he is doing it as it is a Massive opportunity. But still I’m not sure how ready he is for this.

Not how I wanted to see him fight after the Jared bout but beggars can’t be choosers.

I think it might be too much for him on short notice.

Bakole's alleged KO victims include:

Usyk
Dubois (twice)
Joshua
Fury
Zhang
Joyce
Kabayel
Miller

etc.

What a list! More impressively he somehow did it wearing 18-20 ounce gloves. It's too bad we don't have any actual footage or know of a single impartial witness that observed these sparring sessions but that's all good. For those of you that don't realize it yet, this is the definition of clout chasing. It's a double-edged sword because Bakole can never possibly live up to the expectations that his sparring 'tales' have created around him. I think his team really should've thought this one out a little better. If he loses to Parker it just might be the biggest hype train derailment in combat sports history.

This Martin Bakole is feared in the HW division...he seems the be the boogeyman.

He hasn’t actually beaten anyone yet outside of his wild sparring stories. The bogeyman tag is self proclaimed, as is usually the case but fans buy in to it? And the only contender level fighter he’s fought he lost to. This is where we find out if the hype is justified

A 2 fight deal, so if he's spent after 5 rds, has another big fight in the locker.
Poor Ajagba:(

Parker's got quick hands and feet. Bakole has quick hands and slow, ponderous feet. The guy basically walks in a straight line and bobs back and forth while throwing punches. Parker can dart in and out over and over again while landing his shots. He was able to do that to Wilder who is faster than Bakole.
I think Parker wins a decision.

How ready is Bakole? What’s his lifestyle like outside of fight camps? Is he Beterbiev or Fury? Seems crazy to fight a top flight heavyweight with only 2 days notice unless you’re in shape year round.

Why wouldn't he be in shape? It's not bodybuilding with off seasons

Why wouldn’t he be in shape? You realize how many pro boxers are party animals that drink booze, take recreational drugs, whore around, and eat like shit when they don’t have a fight booked?

Bakole has a 2 fight deal and was meant to be fighting Ajagba in May.
That’s 3 months away. Unless he breaks a limb in this fight, he’ll be fine.

Boxers used to fight once a week, then once every two weeks, then once a month. Nowadays, most of them only want to fight once or twice a year. That’s bullshit.

It's more to do with the economics of fighting than anything else. If boxers were guaranteed the bag for fighting more frequently, they probably would. However, we are now in a loss-averse era of fighting (market value substantially diminishes from defeats) with unsustainable purses being demanded for meaningful fights. There is no way fighters go back to conditions where they fight more frequently, lose more and get paid less.
