News Paramount buys UFC rights. PPV model is dead

Technically was here from the very beginning just didn't make an account for a few years. I generally like to just browse, thus the low post count ,

Ye, we all did mate.

This place is a plethora of funny shit and has been for 20 years and the main reason i still come back. The sig is Chris Leben and Frankenstein, a fellow sherdogger made it years ago, he a real fucking G.

mf's were speculating the ufc was gonna partner up with a giant like netflix or something lol

He has a point I never thought about

The best fights were build ups for "Drama"

Jones DC
Rampage Rashad
Connor Khabib
Sonnen Silva

were all "story" build ups for great PPVs
The story didn't add anything to those fights for me.

Soooo how many people pre-ordered UFC 319 for PPV

At least it won't happen immediately. They have to get people in the door first before they spike it up. We'll get a little while of cheap cards.

Probably. If they charge $12/no for the first 6-12 months, I'd consider it a steal. Frankly, I think P+ with every UFC card year round is worth more than $20/mo. At least to MMA fans.
Live sports streaming is the most expensive content and has been for a long time.

I know there is a huge event coming up but I'm surprised more people aren't talking about this. Finally getting rid of the PPV model is a massive story and this thread hasnt been bumped in days.

Paying more than your market cap for streaming rights to one property is not a good sign.

We don't know if this deal is good or bad for fans yet. The ESPN deal turned out to be bad for everyone but the UFC in the long run. We're so far zero events into a seven year deal. Paramount better have everything working properly for the first UFC event that they stream.

You know PPV is dead when even nepo baby streamers talk about illegally streaming it.

Since Paramount owns Nickelodeon, does this mean they'll have UFC on that channel? If so, everyone who loses a fight should get slimed.
Great name, great av. Don't get banned right away
I don't think kids networks with a history of things that happened like Nickelodeon, they can't ever douse kids in goo again. They probably have a silo somewhere in the everglades full of green slime they can never even hint at bringing back

They probably still do, wouldn’t shock me but I'd imagine that would be the first thing to go. The optics... they have to be considered lol
