News Paramount buys UFC rights. PPV model is dead

Something interesting to note:

Luke Thomas mentioned last week that it had primarily been UFC negotiating with ESPN and Netflix for a while but that Paramount plus had came in last minute to negotiate.

Guessing as soon as Skydance closed in on buying Paramount. They moved quick to secure UFC rights. For them to get everything is unusual. UFC wanted a split deal with several streamers. Paramount must have vastly outbid everyone else to the point UFC stayed in one place only.

You pay I think $12.99 for the stream or you risk what the seas give you. I'm a cheap bastard so it won't matter to me. I just don't know how sports fans who stream multiple sports legally do it in this economy.
Everyone can afford a bag of coke or weed thats like the cost to have every streaming service

Wishful thinking. I hope you're right
Better fights have to land somewhere. But I guess they could continue the same way with a few big events and lots of filler. I’d prefer to have every card be in the 5-8 range than the 1-10 range personally. We’ll see.

Interestingly this might mean that accessing UFC events becomes more expensive in countries like the UK where TNT sport who have the rights is £30ish a month (for those that pay legitimately of course)

If paramount plus is reasonably priced and gives all UFC content I'll also pay for it.

but imma start bitching real hard if fights are bad and cards are bad and im paying for it. I refrain from whining about bad cards now because im not buying them the second I start paying i want quality. (or at the very least, I want to get what im paying for)

Then you might want to start prepping then because I assume it will be similar to Netflix. Quality was great at first and then as time went along it got worse. I mean this is a 7 year deal. Think of the change in quality from 2018 to now.

Spare a thought for Brett Okamoto.

Chachi seems old school normal -- he's not odd looking, obese, shut-in, or weirdo vibe reporter clinging to the last rung of hope.

Brett's future looks solid imho -- he's been granted access and seems properly in the favor of the UFC mothership.

He just might be the Anti-helwani for better or worse. Even as Ariel serves a higher purpose as a counterpoint to the UFC Machine.
