News Paramount buys UFC rights. PPV model is dead

I suspect many shows weren't even doing that these days. Everyone just pirates nowadays
you know there is some dilweed on here that was trying to argue that 60% of viewers buy PPV <lmao>

Then he linked me a study that revolved around a subscription-only magazines (that is only sold in the US) polling of weather or not people buy ppvs. Like the people that pay for magazine subscriptions, would be a reasonable crowd to ask if they pirate ppvs.

Damn. 1.1 billion a year is wild. I don't see UFC being the reason over 7.5 million people subscribe to paramount plus

Fighter payroll won't see hardly any of that.

I've already got paramount plus because of walmart plus so this works for me. That poor algorithm tho. Our paramount plus is basically only used to play Paw Patrol for the kids. Paw Patrol to cage fights is a hell of a whiplash.

Man my little brother was all over that paw patrol shit. Then I got him a paw patrol cake for his 6th birthday and he told me paw patrol is for babies -_-

It will be a monthly subscription to Paramount & a UFC subscription. So basically $40 a month
Are you sure?

“The pay-per-view model is a thing of the past,” said Mark Shapiro, TKO Group’s president and chief operating officer, in an interview. “What’s on pay-per-view anymore? Boxing? Movies on DirecTV? It’s an outdated, antiquated model. So, it was paramount to us – forgive the pun – where it’s one-stop shopping, especially for our younger fans in flyover states. When they find out, ‘Wait, if I just sign up for Paramount+ for $12.99 a month, I’m going to automatically get UFC’s numbered fights and the rest of the portfolio?’ That’s a message we want to amplify.”

If paramount plus is reasonably priced and gives all UFC content I'll also pay for it.

but imma start bitching real hard if fights are bad and cards are bad and im paying for it. I refrain from whining about bad cards now because im not buying them the second I start paying i want quality. (or at the very least, I want to get what im paying for)
It looks like $12.99 a month, all UFC content. PPVs and FNs

Well it sucks because no PPV means less storytelling. We aren't really following a story telling, media content, podcasts, press conferences, one fighter calling the other out. Everyone's personality seems to have been rendered useless, it's like... A fantasy... Without PPV, it also means less incentive for the story between fights, sagas between fighters, rivalries, charisma from fighters. Also, less incentive to live events as well. Events / fights can be recorded and then broadcast later with ambience sound, rather than having a real moment feeling. Fights may even be just announced and streamed, like "fighters x and y are fighting in a week!" then ppl just access the streaming... And it might have been done a while ago so the UFC holds content to release them without a build up. This kinda sucks.
Good. We can focus more on fights and less on the professional wrestling bullshit. Some of the most charismatic fighters had less than fan friendly styles, but got pushed because they were edgy. Most of the biggest rivalries ended in absolute snoozers.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! So they go from a terrible app ESPN + to the WORST APP. ESPN fixed the app like 3 months ago. Will it tske Laramount 5 years too?

I like alot of Paramounts content but the App is literally the worst out there. It needs a massive overhaul.

So ppv is done great ........ I watch P+ alot because good shows but the streaming service struggles to have any show or movie not within last 5 years n it glitches . So when ppv ia "free"

Im hearing P+ will go to 24.99 a month within a year of move. Which is fine for me but expensive AF for others .

Ffs ESPN just fixed the glitches an they moving a an app even more glitchy. - maybe the only major app more glitches.

Amazon , Netflix ......... even Peacock is better service.

Life comes fast for the little ones. I just got to have a princess birthday party for my 5 year old where all her friends wore princess costumes, we had a unicorn bouncy house, one of wife's friends did an Esla cosplay and showed up and the kids screamed and flocked to her thinking she was the real thing.

I'm glad I got to have that before she grew up too fast. I'm sure princesses and unicorns won't be cool much longer.
