ya exactly. I've seen Conor use it to great effect in every one of he's fights and he has never been taken down due to it. He even hit with palm hell strikes to the body, the head, ears, everything. He mostly does this instead of turning over he's knuckes with the padding, i think it's actually quite clever, do you? If it doesn't lead to a takedown of course (which is hasn't for him so far). As your knuckles are like an inch higher than they normally would be due to all the wrapping, then add the 3 inches of padding on the gloves. There's literally just 1 or 2 wraps on the "Balls" of your palm (Like the ball of your foot) and once you hit with that it's basically your bones hitting them i presume harder than small short range punches.Oh i get what you mean. Its kinda like whats called boxing the ears. You lose position doing that. Especially when you are up against yhe fence. That arm is needed to post to get up.
To the guy saying Chael did it to Anderson, yah he did, it's very effecting. Like i said, you see people on the ground trying to to do like 1 inch punches with the knuckles and it doesn't seem to do to much as they can't generate enough power. But due to the bone's in your hand and wrist basicaly being exposed out of the gloves you can cause more direct pain and jarring due to being able to apply more force. Without having to lock your wrist while punching (Locking your wrist for a punch must reduce the strikes by a couple of inches to land if you get me, whereas with a palm heel strike, juse try on your self digging your pal heel into your ribs from a couple of inches onpadded or banging your temples and ears with them etc. I think it makes Conor even more impressive that he uses this unusual technique. I bet he learned it simply from someone doing it to him in a fight and thinking "F*ck that hurts more than turning the padded knuckles over and inches of range).
By the way thanks for all the input guys, really enjoying the discourse on my first ever post here! i'm brand new

Nice to meet you all!
