Is Paiva a live dog here ? I think I’ll be sprinkling a bit on him here …

he’s 21-3 coming off a win where everyone thought he’d to lose to Kyler Phillips .

Has a bunch of very close fights against decent competition too ….

Does he have a legit shot to play spoiler like Vera did ? …. I feel like O malley is a front runner - and if the going gets tough -he’ll fold ….

or am I crazy and this’ll be another one sided o malley fight with him beating up on a mismatched opponent ?

I haven't ever seen Paiva fight that I can remember. What is his fighting style? What's he good at? I kinda expected him to be another sacrificial lamb to Sean. He's good?

He beat Kyler Phillips. Paiva may not look pretty doing it but I think he is a very live dog

I had Phillips winning that fight but Paiva is definitely skilled enough to be a live dog. Might have the grappling to take down suga and submit him.

He has a decent record but he rarely looks “great” in his fights. He was gifted the decision over Zhumagulov too.

The UFC booked this fight for that reason - To give Sean a very winnable fight over a somewhat credible opponent. I think Sean beats him up pretty convincingly, might even get the finish.

O'Malley will be a lot bigger but Paiva is a live dog.

It's also a favourable style matchup for Sugar. I expect him to win but I won't be shocked if Paiva smokes him.

Sean needs his buddy 6x9 in his corner to have confidence

Paiva got rocked multiple times and looked to he outclassed by Kyler Phillips in first, Phillips gassed Paiva took over. Considering how young Kyler is I saw it more as a lesson learned for him than some kind of BW coming out party for Paiva.

That said Paiva is game and experienced, coming off a win over Phillips who I consider better than O'Mailley. It's a cool fight, if Sean loses I think he will lose a lot of hype, if he wins its probably his biggest win to date and we can start talking again.

damn so no Cody vs Sean :(

It's a favorable matchup for Sean. They know what they're doing

Paiva is undersized at BW. He's a tough durable fighter with good grappling, but his striking is flatfooted and mediocre and he doesn't have the wrestling to get the fight to the mat where he wants it. Kinda like the Diaz bros but without the boxing. Or a poor man's Chito.

I think "beat" is a strong word. That fight was definitely a draw IMO.

It's not a strong word, it's the fact of the matter. What you think holds weight in absolutely no conversation anywhere on planet Earth chief.

Happy Holidays.

Lol. I watched the fight. There was no clear winner.

Hes decent, he beat Kyler Phillips last time out and hes a pretty hyped prospect. Hes a brawler but not in a bad way. Hed tough and comes to bang. Hes a huge step up from Moutinho or Almeida.
