Paddy Pimblett believes Silva took a dive

So is Jake Paul actually good? Lol. Are these wins he’s getting pro boxing wins? How did a YouTuber get so big lol

i don't care if Anderson was 50. he should've beat Jake Paul. how the fuck do you beat a former world champion and lose to a fucking youtuber?
He’s a Youtuber who is young, on PEDs, and has been training Boxing full time for years… and it was still very competitive.

I don’t know why so many people think pro fighters are these super heroes who would beat anyone in any combat sport who isn’t a pro fighter.

You could go to any BJJ gym and find some 25 year old, hobbyist purple belt who could beat some old MMA fighter, they’re not invincible.

It’s frustrating because this type of thinking is why Paul has been able to do this bullshit.

i don't think they're invincible. but if i had to choose between a carpenter who has +20 yrs experince and is a world reknown carpenter vs one who has 5 yrs, i'm not picking the 5 yr experienced carpenter.

Anderson had just beat a former WORLD CHAMPION. did you watch the fight? Jake Paul was doing the same defensive moves THE ENTIRE FIGHT. curl up and duck. throw a random overhand right WHILE LOOKING AT THE GROUND.

I love Anderson and I see no signs of Anderson throwing the fight. Anderson looked good in some moments and was competitive despite the clear decline in physical attributes (speed, cardio, power, timing).

He also fell into the same issues that got him in trouble in the Uriah Hall fight and pretty much all his fights lost Weidman- and it’s that he gets sometimes too aggressive and he becomes susceptible to counters. When Anderson gets very aggressive it almost looks like he’s fighting emotionally because of the openings he leaves and it’s just kind of what it always looked like to me in his later career. You can see glimpses of it too even in the Sonnen fights, winging overhands when he’s pushing forward, things like that that aren’t what you see when he’s fighting patiently and in control.

Jake Paul is not that bad and has lot of money and youth on his side. He’s a fairly big guy, weight wise he might have been similar to Anderson but Anderson obviously isn’t as great of shape as before since he’s much older.

The response of an imbecile, I expected nothing less

You must be dumb af to think contracts with illegal stipulations can be made for pro bouts in order to fix a fight, contracts like that wouldn't work because they couldn't be used in a court of law you fool
Shut up fatty

Someone like Silva who already had an estimated net worth of $20M before fighting Jake isn't going to risk serious jail time if ever found guilty of fight fixing which would deprive himself of a life watching his grandchildren grow up just for the sake of a few extra million dollars when he already got more than enough money for the lifestyle he's accustomed to anyway.
First of all you have no idea how much Silva is worth. He could have blown it all on poor investments or gambling. Athletes have been seen at alarming paces to incinerate their wealth with abandon. You are literally speculating with no facts to back it up. If Silva was worth so much money why would he bother fighting in shady boxing promotions against YouTubers then? If someone is truly worth $20million and is a champion of their sport why would they lower themselves for low class and embarrassing opportunities such as fighting a social media clown and risk ruining their legacy? You think Silva could not have fought an A-level boxing champion in a legitimate promotion for millions? Or signed with another MMA promotion after leaving the UFC for good money? That his best opportunity was this freak show style boxing?

Him signing up for a YouTube boxing bout makes him look pathetic and weak and desperate for money. Joining classless imbeciles like Woodley and Askren.

Secondly there are endless amounts of criminals who were rich or wealthy and kept committing crimes. There are multimillionaires and billionaires who have committed crimes despite being financially well off enough to never have to work again.

Silva was paid allegedly $500K to fight against Paul. He could have easily gotten that for a boxing fight or MMA fight that would have been more prestigious in another organization or platform. To me it looks like Silva is flat broke. Maybe he took a dive or did not. But there is no way that he is financially secure like you are speculating. His behavior screams the opposite. That he is desperate to pick up any paycheck possible now that the UFC is done with him and going up against rising social media stars was a good opportunity to make easy cash for him.

Silva looked awful in his match against Paul. He was barely throwing at all. And when he did throw it was not accurate nor powerful. He stood there often frozen just waiting for Paul to initiate some type of contact or action. He either should be ashamed or he deliberately held back his abilities to allow the other fighter to shine which is honestly just as bad as taking a dive.

Wasn't a dive, he's old and his feet were squared up with the direction the punch was coming from so he didn't have a foot to lean back on. Leaning your head back with no foot to lean back on is what left his head hanging there for Weidman to KO him, so it's much better to fall back than lean your head with nowhere else to go.

He didn't fight like himself. He isn't really a guy who throws wide, inaccurate punches and lets someone do the same to him without countering, but that's probably age and diminished reflexes.

I don't really think Andy took a dive, but I do recall a few people thinking his Ryo Chonan loss was suspect in Pride.

I can only assume he was watching the wrong fight.

God that fight was so bad

I don’t get why people say this dumb shit. There are multiple angles of it that are so easy to find a 5yr old could do it

He got dropped. It’s not that complex.

1. Jake v Silva was on Showtime PPV so how is that a 'shady boxing promotion'? They're as legit as it gets when it comes to boxing promotions, the UFC were fine co promoting Mayweather v McGregor with them, so I don't understand where you're coming from by describing Showtime as a shady boxing promotion? Enlighten me?

2. Anderson Silva cannot compete with 'A level champion boxers', have you lost your mind? A level champion boxers at the top of the sport would do very, very bad things to Silva in a boxing ring, his life would be in danger, so why would Silva face opponents like that who represent huge danger whilst also giving himself no chance of being competitive against for equal or less money over taking a fight with Jake for similar or more money but with the added benefit of being in much less danger due to Jake still being novice level on top of the fact Silva could still be competitive with Jake too? Which he was given two judges had the fight scored 4-3 Jake going into the final round, it was a competitive bout.

Silva has also ruled himself out from ever competing in MMA again after his leg injury, he only came back to UFC to see out his contract and jump into boxing where there are far less demands on the legs, so I don't know why you are suggesting that he should or could have joined other MMA organizations when he already ruled out ever competing in MMA again.

That $500K was just his purse fee, Silva would have then made much more from ads on his social media platforms throughout the build up, sponsorship and then his cut from PPV/arena ticket sales, probably made between $5-10M all in, there's no one you can suggest to me that Silva could have fought instead for similar money whilst being faced with the least amount of danger as he was against Jake.

3. Silva loves fighting, it's like a drug to him, an addiction, he can't give it up, which is why he's still continuing to fight even into his late 40s, he's struggling to accept the reality that his fighting career is nearly over, he's hanging on by his finger tips, the feeling he gets preparing for a fight and then fighting clearly can't be replicated by doing anything else, he can't stop chasing it, that doesn't mean however that he won't be smart about it by taking the biggest opportunity for the most amount of money against the least amount of danger, which is what fighting as main event on Showtime PPV against Jake represented.

Askren is definitely not an imbecile. He has said many times he took the fight strictly for the check, I think he even said it that night. He hired his boxing coach from a twitter reply because he was the only serious/affordable person who replied to him.

I can't stand the Pauls and hate that they have any airplay whatsoever. But at this stage, calling Jake Paul a YouTuber is like calling Anderson Silva a Michael Jackson impersonator

Anderson Silva 100% took a dive.

Anderson Silva is the greatest fighter of all time.

Anderson Silva lost on purpose to Chris Weidman to show that you can come back from anything in life.

Anderson Silva never lost to Michael Bisping, i was there in person and when he hit Bisping with that knee the fight was over.

Anderson Silva's PRIDE MJ Walkout needs to be talked about more as one of the greatest walkouts ever.
