Paddy Pimblett believes Silva took a dive

i don't care if Anderson was 50. he should've beat Jake Paul. how the fuck do you beat a former world champion and lose to a fucking youtuber?
Because Jake Paul has something you can only be born with rather than trained, raw, natural KO power, what he done to Woodley wasn't normal, same with dropping Askren like that in round 1 when we all know how durable the Askren chin was, dropping Silva too who is bigger than Jake was another feat, there are boxers who have been in the sport for 20+ years who wouldn't have been able to do that because as I said, power is something more natural that you're born with rather than trained, Jake has it, many don't

Chavez Jr has never been known as a power puncher and is considerably smaller than Silva, his punches barely fazed Silva which allowed Silva to unleash everything on him without fear of being badly hurt. With Jake however, he broke Silvas nose in the early rounds, Silva respected Jakes power almost immediately, meaning he couldn't fight Jake the same way he fought Chavez Jr, he had to be more careful and selective in his punches to avoid getting punished on the counter too often by that power

This was proven by the fact Silva threw 395 punches at Chavez Jr compared to the 250 punches he threw at Jake, a 150 punch reduction because he had to fight Jake a lot more carefully in his punch selection

He fought a more careful fight rounds 1-7 which allowed him to avoid getting dropped, however then in round 8, when Silva knew he had to go all out to win after being down on the cards, he got reckless and dropped, Silva knew if he continued to go all out throughout the rest of round 8 he would have got finished like Woodley, so after the knockdown he accepted it was all but over and seen his way to the finish without giving Jake another meme KO

Nothing about it was fixed, too many in denial about Jake

Also spare the YouTuber talk, the dude has now been boxing training for nearly 5 years under the best possible boxing conditions money can buy, he's been training boxing for 5 years but his growth is at the level of someone who's been boxing for 10 years due to his quality of training, add in the fact he's clearly got a lot of natural power, what he's doing isn't so unbelievable

I must admit, Hunt did shock me in the Sonny Bill fight but I don't believe Sonny fought smart. Should have avoided the pocket and wild exchanges, been on his bicycle with the jab til late in the fight.
Agree however people giving Jake a hard time for his level of opponents when boxers much more experienced than Jake have been losing to ex UFC fighters, it's wild that not many people acknowledge this

People have to forget the persona of Jake Paul. He was whatever he was prior to his boxing career but the guy is young, has money which gets top coaching, nutrition, and connections. The fact people can't fathom he has been able to hold his own and win against retired MMA fighters baffles me.

before the fight people on here were already saying that the only way jake wins is if silva takes a dive. so there is nothing jake could do to win in their eyes. im sure these were many of the same people who said askren and woodley took a dive too lol. they will just keep saying all of his fights are fixed until he eventually loses then suddenly it will be legit

Exactly, it's pathetic, it's only when he wins against an opponent more wealthy than himself therefore making them 'unbuyable' like Andrew Tate, Conor McGregor or Tommy Fury (Fury family richer than Jake because of Tyson) will those haters/doubters have to find another excuse

Not a dive. Silva got a good right hand and he was also a bit off balance thats why he dropped

not a dive, I think he just caught him. People need to realize that Anderson Silva is 47 and still fought a competitive fight

The ironic thing is I think Paul is exploiting the UFC's own hype system against them, for years they've constantly sold declining big names as still being at their peak in order to hype the newer fighters who beat them to the degree much of the fanbase buy into "nobody declines".

I thought the Woodley KO looked suss. It looked like two actors, it looks like he signals and then throws the punch and Tyron stands there and then sells the punch. So I thought at the time, on reflection it looks ok. The Anderson one looked fine first and fine second. Dude is just old.

Silva got hit, but he was off balance and it didn't hurt him. Silva said this in the post fight presser and you can clearly see that's what happened in the replay, so stupid.

Punch clearly hits Silva on the cheek and jaw but lets pretend it didn't.

Some people have no issue going to full on delusional to believe whatever they want.

Anderson also has 20+ years of pro fighting experience and fought the elite in MMA. Jake Paul has been training for what 5 years now? This should've been a walkthrough for Silva, not even close to a competitive fight.

Basically if you give a guy like another 5 years he'll outboxing all MMA fighters then.

I don't see any contact with the jaw, more on the nose and cheekbone. Jake isn't a small guy, so I'd understand if he put torque behind it, but that was as much an arm-punch as a punch could be lol.
To me it looked more like Silva being off balance, unless he took an intentional dive. And a dive like that isn't bad. He just fell, lost a point, still keeps his reputation for possibly another fight.
Remember, you are comparing one of the greatest boxers in MMA to a guy who has been training of what 5 years now? Although retired, Silva should've walked through Jake.

Wow looks like we've got a lot of tiktok kids here on sherdog now.

Silva is fighting since 1998- or even earlier, can't remember.

It's amazing that he can still take a punch and doesn't get KTFO from blocked shots.

Not an outright dive, but I do think Silva was contractually obligated to carry the fight till the later rounds.

Then, when Silva tried to go Spider mode, he found that he was not as quick as he used to be, and that Jake came in with enough cardio to still throw and land.

He got hurt enough for it to be a legit knockdown though.

<{fry}> this is how I've watched and for now will continue to watch Jake Paul's fights.

it baffles me that you don't find it strange that Anderson beat AN ACTUAL FORMER WORLD CHAMPION who is younger than him, but loses to a guy training for 5 years.
