According to GMA News, Manny Pacquiao has come out politically swinging in his new role as a senator in the Philippines. Pacquiao will be pushing for the death penalty to be carried out by hanging.

He believes death by hanging is more "humane" not only for the criminal being executed but for the medical personnel who are forced to assist in carrying out the death sentence despite their personal beliefs and convictions.

"For me the death penalty should be by hanging. The law should also state that doctors are not allowed to kill people," Pacquiao told reporters when asked for his opinion on the subject.

Is Pacquiao a secret fascist?

"Pacquiao also told reporters that he feels the death penalty should be imposed on crimes such as rape with murder, drug trafficking, kidnapping, and robbery with murder."

Hard to disagree there.

So do I. Especially :eek::eek::eek::eek:s/rapists.

Pac 2020.

Pacquiao is afraid of needles so this makes sense. I'm not a proponent of the death penalty but I agree that hanging is more humane than lethal injection. Lethal injection would be my nightmare.

I am all for hanging criminals like :eek::eek::eek:s and rapists, etc, BUT what if one ends up being hanged only to find out a few years later, they were actually innocent?

I say, if they are caught red handed (CCTV, etc) then yes, let 'em hang in public.

I would rather firing squad, he wants the death penalty for drug dealing? Wasn't he begging for that Filipino girl to get a pardon after she was caught with drugs? Don't remember the country though.

Really?

The state shouldn't have the power to kill anyone, certainly not for drug trafficking, an industry they have literally created. I'd disagree with all of it, the fact the Government are still murdering people for crimes in 2016 is a joke.

Hanging is obviously idiotic as well, but let's face it, Pacquiao is an idiot, he believes in a plethora of moronic things. But so do lots of boxers, particularly those who grew up in poverty, within a completely different culture. As much as I am offended by some of his political stances, its stupid to judge him to the standards of a western democracy. We would all believe a lot of this shit if we grew up under the same circumstances.

I respect the viewpoint of those who feel that governments shouldn't execute criminals, regardless of their crimes. I just don't personally agree. I am not that compassionate. If you murder someone maliciously, then I have no problem if you're sentenced to die. Especially if it involves rape or robbery.

Hanging is an odd choice. Firing squad has to be more humane, it would be my preference anyway. But if he's advocating for capital punishment of aggravated murder, then that doesn't seem unreasonable to me even by first-world standards. When I first read it I thought he was moving for the death penalty for robbery, which would be crazy. But aside from Pacquiao trying to be a modern day Wyatt Earp sending bandits to the gallows, it's not totally weird.

Hanging can be more humane than lethal injection. If it is a calculated drop, the spinal cord is severed and the person doesn't feel a thing as they die. Of course, they could miscalculate the drop height and send a head rolling, literally.

The same applies for lethal injection of course, messing it up will cause immense pain as the person dies from a variety of things, such as shock or organ failure.

Firing squad is where it's at.

Basically. If it gets all pissy Ill move it.

It was in Indonesia, and there's a lot of evidence that points to her being innocent from what I heard.
