Ever since this fight was made I've stated that Pacquiao will knock De La Hoya out.
I've been met with ridicule, laughter and even contempt. After all Oscar's never been knocked out in his career: (The Hopkins fight was Oscar's way to get out of a beating.)
The pundits and analysts all clam that Oscar is too big for Manny and that size will win the fight. They point to Oscar's own engagement with Hopkins at 160. Let's look to recent hoistory: Oscar fought to a 12 round unanimous decision against Steve Forbes recently: A fight in which he got hit with every imaginable shot, and though he had good spots he looked a shadow of himself. Forbes like Manny is a smaller guy. Forbes though slicker, never was much of a puncher. Manny does get hit but has improved his deffense with every fight. Oscar beat Forbes because Forbes did not have the artilery to keep Oscar off him. Manny will not be as forgiving. Manny is vulnerable to a straight right hand: oscar is known for his vocious counter left hook. Oscar has never been a one punch knock out specialist: He will put you down with apunch but usually finishes guys by shooting off a barrage of punches.
Oscar has one two opptions in this fight:
1. Ster traps for Manny, allow him to come in and attempt to put him away with the counter left hook.
2. Jab his way to a decision.
I do not see him being effective with either strategy. This is why: Manny Pacquiao is a pressure fighter, he specializes in getting into his opponents. Oscar has a terrific jab but also had alot of bad habbits in the ring. At some point he will engage Manny, at some point he will do away with the Jab.
As small as Manny maye be he's mantained his power through his rise in the divisions. He's packing on 12 lbs and that could be an issue. But if we are to go on history, that shows that he has mantained his speed and puncing power. The angles, speed, power and precision will prove to be too much for Oscar.
My prediction is a close fight early but by rould 4 it will become increasingly aparent that Oscar cannot last with Manny. Manny by knockout in 10.
Great call man..now thats analysis from a person who knows his shit. Whoever said size mattered in this fight was a tart, and does not know much about boxing as they claim
