Pacquiao Vs De La Hoya. My Breakdown.

Ever since this fight was made I've stated that Pacquiao will knock De La Hoya out.
I've been met with ridicule, laughter and even contempt. After all Oscar's never been knocked out in his career: (The Hopkins fight was Oscar's way to get out of a beating.)

The pundits and analysts all clam that Oscar is too big for Manny and that size will win the fight. They point to Oscar's own engagement with Hopkins at 160. Let's look to recent hoistory: Oscar fought to a 12 round unanimous decision against Steve Forbes recently: A fight in which he got hit with every imaginable shot, and though he had good spots he looked a shadow of himself. Forbes like Manny is a smaller guy. Forbes though slicker, never was much of a puncher. Manny does get hit but has improved his deffense with every fight. Oscar beat Forbes because Forbes did not have the artilery to keep Oscar off him. Manny will not be as forgiving. Manny is vulnerable to a straight right hand: oscar is known for his vocious counter left hook. Oscar has never been a one punch knock out specialist: He will put you down with apunch but usually finishes guys by shooting off a barrage of punches.

Oscar has one two opptions in this fight:
1. Ster traps for Manny, allow him to come in and attempt to put him away with the counter left hook.
2. Jab his way to a decision.

I do not see him being effective with either strategy. This is why: Manny Pacquiao is a pressure fighter, he specializes in getting into his opponents. Oscar has a terrific jab but also had alot of bad habbits in the ring. At some point he will engage Manny, at some point he will do away with the Jab.

As small as Manny maye be he's mantained his power through his rise in the divisions. He's packing on 12 lbs and that could be an issue. But if we are to go on history, that shows that he has mantained his speed and puncing power. The angles, speed, power and precision will prove to be too much for Oscar.

My prediction is a close fight early but by rould 4 it will become increasingly aparent that Oscar cannot last with Manny. Manny by knockout in 10.

Great call man..now thats analysis from a person who knows his shit. Whoever said size mattered in this fight was a tart, and does not know much about boxing as they claim

LOl Good call golden boy chumps. Your boy got DEMOLISHED.

Proves that nobody is an expert when it comes to predictin fights......well expect the dude who made this thread.. he was right on.

Oh and to the fools that go "I'm a big pac man but I vote for delahoya" are sellouts.

Nice assessment. He would've knocked him out in 9. Close enough :)

Damn that was a good read just seeing the fight...good shit man lol

Thats what im saying..how are you gonna be like yea ima big fan..but hes gonna lose..wtf is that shit.

Great call from the TS, and knowing how a fight should go, realizing that size aint everything, even in boxing.

Advice for Manny:

Steer clear of Margarito. Margarito is not only too big but he can take too much punishment. Margarito eventually would get to Manny.
Fighting Hatton would be lucrative but one sided: Pac would put him away.
Floyd Mayweather. My God I'm salivating. Finally a true test for FLoyd if he comes out.

Great call man you were pretty bang on where are all the DLH nuthuggers now haha
Did you make any dough off the fight ??

You are basing all this on how Manny was as a 130lber... Good luck with that way of thinking.

I will admit, though, that Pac has impressed me with his training. He still has his vaunted speed and might very well make it interesting for awhile.

But he wont be pulling away with the W.

hahaha good fight prediction :icon_lol:

It was an easy call. The experts said what they wanted, But Oscar has never fought like a bigger man. Never in his career has he muscled anyone around. When he fought Sweet Pea it was a boxing contest. When he fought Forbes it was a boxing contest.

nice work with the pick jahivah, hope you made some coin

speed kills. cotto was winning the fight. i don't know why he changed his gameplan and brawled with margarito. freddy roach has a lot of tricks on his sleeves. and fighting margarito won't be hard for roach to orchestrate a good blueprint on how to knock him out. Hatton will be asking for too much money before pacman retires him. Floyd now that's a fight i'd like to see. I'm taking floyd via speed and size.

Wow. Great analysis/prediction except that Manny soundly beat Oscar EVERY round until it was abruptly stopped due to an abundance of brutal humiliation.

Manny COULD'VE KO'ed him in the 6th or 7th but decided to continue "outboxing", (outclassing really), Oscar.

If that fight went ONE more round Oscar would've been put to sleep.

No doubt in my mind.

This was one of the MOST severe lopsided boxing fights I've ever seen... definitely in the past decade IMO. However I must admit I haven't been a diehard fan since the Tyson era.

From time to time... if it's intriguing... I'll catch a big fight otherwise bleh... the UFC is just more exciting overall.

But yeah... wow... Pacman. He looked like a little 7th grade kid fighting a high school senior or something. Appearance wise I was like... this is a mismatch.

Then Manny would throw that left straight... right down the pipe... disappear... teleport and then reappear behind Oscar. That kid throws punches so fast... they are blurry.

Like one announcer said... Oscars career will end tonight by "death of a thousand left punches".

It was exciting.

I'm filipino and i'm not picking the pacman in this one. All the people on the islands won't help manny when DLH beats on that drum.

bad time to bet against your fellow countrymen. i'm sure you're bragging on how you pick manny to win the fight via tko now.

wish I was in the Phillipines right now, the place is going to be buzzing

good call, good call everyone who picked pacman. I can never recall being so wrong about a fight. I should have listened to roach, oscar really cannot pull the trigger, and has no defense for the straight left. Pacman was like pacman out there he ate Oscar up with amazing speed and a great strategy. Oscar like RJJ, seemed lost, slow, weak, and looked like he had no clue how to fight anymore.
