I think middle weight is the cut off for being considered P4P in MMA. Pound for pound, Jones murders anyone at flyweight. Pound for pound means you should be able to take on anyone in the world. Lets toss MM in the ring with Fedor and see how he fairs. I am not claiming Jones would beat Fedor but its just goofy thinking MM would in with Fedor, Cain, Overeem and would come out with his hand held.

MM is great, but I give him the Rhonda effect. Hes fighting a smaller talent pool and looking amazing. While we are it lets throw Adrian Peterson into the NCAA and watch him run all over the college students. Fact is the talent pool for the smaller guys and women in MMA is shallow. There is much more talent at the upper weight classes. There are more 135 pound men "athletes lol" playing League of Legends on ESPN than 135 skilled fighters.

Its not a bash thread, I enjoy MM. Ive watched him stream games and hes entertaining, but saying he ranks higher than Jones is silly.

I don't think you know what P4P mean. Jones beats everyone at Flyweight? Yea, not a clue.

There's no such thing as pound for pound IMO. According to your criteria, however, the best fighter will most probably always be the heavyweight champion.

You have this completely backwards. P4P is supposed to be a measure of skill and ability independent of weight class.

Why do people get so buttmad about P4P, if you think it's nonsense just move along, grow up.

It means hypothetically if everyone were the same weight who has the most well rounded skill set to beat everyone else.

It's a list people made because it's easy to LITERALLY overlook the manlets

Wrong. P4P means that if all fighters were the same size who is the best. If MM and JJ were both 185 lbs for example with all the same skills they have now who wins. And you are right that Jones beats the entire top 10 Fly Weights.....at the same time! LOL

P4p is a made up thing that people who hate the goat Jon goat Jones use to discredit him and give undue credit to some other lesser fighter.

P4P actually means absolutely nothing, IMO.

If you had people all around you arguing whether Spiderman could beat Wolverine ad nauseum, wouldn't you tell them to just stop at some point?

Spiderman vs Wolverine was one of my favorite comics when I was a kid because of the great story and writing but serious discussions about it would get annoying as hell for me.

That's why I chime in on P4P when people seem to be taking it super seriously. It's comic book level fiction.

You obviously have zero understanding as to the definition of "pound for pound"

Arguing about the P4P best is a fool's argument. The lighter the weight class, the more the sport is about speed. The heavier the weight class, the more the sport is about power. It's impossible to compare a FW to a HW. When there's that much weight disparity we're almost talking about two different sports. It's like trying to compare a defensive lineman to a cornerback in football or a point guard to a center in basketball. Yeah, they technically play the same sport, but they'd be terrible if trying to play the other guy's position and vice versa.
