Overeem opens up as an underdog vs Miocic

I'm afraid this is going to be a boring decision festival. I have a feeling both are going to fight "to not lose" but hope Stipe just thinks "I am champ, I'll knock him out" but I doubt it

It's a close fight but I got Overeem. Overeem knocked out both guys who beat Stipe.

The thing is Reem can kick and Stipe can't, so Stipe is going to have to push the pace at least some of the time, he won't be able to point-fight on the edge of range.

2011, Cain vs JDS 1 imo. Both were on huge win streaks and were knocking out mainstays left and right. I like this fight better though and think Cain and JDS would get trounced by Stipe and Reem.

The thing is Reem can kick and Stipe can't, so Stipe is going to have to push the pace at least some of the time, he won't be able to point-fight on the edge of range.

I guess no one told Stipe he can't kick before the Werdum fight because he landed more than Fabricio did

I think Reem is a nightmare matchup for Cain especially. He'd get battered with kicks on the feet, chewed up with knees in the clinch and very possibly outgrappled.

I was a fan of Overeem when he was over in J-pan and he could juice into the beast that killed everyone, but in this fight I've been saying Stipe slays him easy.
People have overlooked the fireman, his fundamentals are good and he hits like a freight train, I think he rules for a long while.

Cain goes for the chin, connects and Reem stands there with his hands down waiting for the final touch of death as we've seen several times going back to Pride days. Reem is fighting smarter but once broken he's doomed.

I am kind of surprised to see this, 5dimes shows Reem +130 Miocic -160

I know Stipe has power and Reem lacks a chin, but since Reem beated JDS who is a similar and better fighter than Stipe I definately favor fim.

Are people overbetting the champion or am I missing something?

We already had a poll here. Reem was slightly favored. We're hardcore fans though.

Why are you so sure stipe can't take him down?

I'm not saying he can't, I just think he won't. Alistair has excellent TDD, Stipe would expend too much energy trying to take him down. Overeem shucked off Brock like he wasn't even there. Yes I know this was in his Ubereem days but still.

Frank Mir took down Overeem. Stipe can certainly do it.

Don't disagree there. I'm saying it's not a good choice to make given Alistairs excellent TDD and amount of energy stipe would expend to take him down. Stipe has good wrestling but it's not like he's DC or even Cain in that department.
