Over Two Years Have Passed Without Any Updates on Phil Baroni Murder Charges

Phil Baroni was charged with allegedly murdering his girlfriend while on vacation in Mexico in January 2023, and he was purportedly sent to Mexican state jail pending further court proceedings. As near as I can tell there have been no real updates, as I haven’t found anything through Google or on Wikipedia.

Does anyone know anything? Did he get convicted? Acquitted? Extradited? Is he still awaiting trial? Is he even still alive??

Last update we really got was someone he knew up here basically said he is being kept in some type of secured housing and not prison itself anymore. He isn't allowed to leave but this guy made it sound like that if enough money was paid to the right people Phil could be let free. They paid but they keep asking for more, extorsion.

Mexican forensic science and crime scenes are treated much differently down there and the courts work much different than the US. There is a reason why many murders never get solved officially in Mexico. Going on three years a no court date probably speaks to the evidence in the case isn't that great and Phil sits in limbo, guilty or not.

The dude apparently went down there after beating up his girlfriend in New York and was worried about charges coming there. He then basically fled to Mexico in PV area and then wanted to come home but didn't have money. Some friends started a go fund me I believe to get him home and raised like 2K and then he changed his mind and wanted to stay. After that he apparently murdered Paula and autopsy was pretty graphic of what happen to her.
