Jack Nicholson

Burt Reynolds

James Dean

Clint Eastwood

This half of the bracket is overloaded compared to its counterpart.

Jack Nicholson
Michael Caine
Dustin Hoffman
Anthony Hopkins
Clint Eastwood
Peter O'Toole
Robert Redford
James Dean
Morgan Freeman

There's only half as many actors of that caliber in the other bracket.

And now I look at the votes. Holy fuck, Sherdog, sometimes...

Sean Connery has 1 less vote than Michael Caine, SMH. He has more than Dustin Hoffman and Peter O'Toole.

Well that's your subjective perspective. But anyways 6 on this bracket and 6 on the other bracket are going to the Finals.

Well did you see this.

Certainly that's unavoidable with acting. And polls are fun no matter what.

But Peter O'Toole was nominated eight times for an acting Oscar. He's famous for having garnered the most without a win. He has three more nominations for Primetime Emmy's. Add in his Golden Globe nomination for maybe his most beloved role outside of Lawrence of Arabia, as Don Quixote, and his BAFTA for his supporting role in The Last Emperor, and we're up to 10 films and 3 TV miniseries/movies.

Movies
  • Lawrence of Arabia
  • Becket
  • The Lion in Winter
  • Goodbye, Mr. Chips
  • Man of La Mancha
  • The Ruling Class
  • My Favorite Year
  • The Stunt Man
  • The Last Emperor
  • Venus

TV
  • Masada
  • Joan of Arc
  • Hitler: The Rise of Evil

What percent of the voters on Sherdog do you think will have only seen 1, maybe 2-3 of those? That's one of the weaknesses of subjectivity. There are objective truths it doesn't weigh.

Obviously, there are a lot actors that people haven't seen as much because they weren't exposed to them as like to other actors on here. This what makes it interesting the voting. I don't sway the votes, I don't tell anyone who to vote for. It's up to them and there experience with films in who are they going to pick.

If Peter O'Toole is not getting the votes you believe he should get, than so be it. That's the uncertainty of these kind of voting. Makes it interesting and unpredictable. Therefore I find highly pleasurable and entertaining to see who people pick. And I have no qualms or disappointment or displeasure of who most people on here pick. The people speak and I listen.

But don't have these preconceived notions that I don't know Peter O'Toole or don't know his impact on film. The guy easily is one of the greatest actors the ever lived. He's in my top 10 all time greatest actors.

So yeah I'll sing O'Toole greatness as much as I can. His physical and vocal transformation from Lawrence of Arabia to The Lion in Winter is absolutely amazing and legendary.

Anyways, just enjoy for what it is and don't take it too seriously. It's just for fun.

I don't know what leads you to believe I'm taking a poll on Sherdog too seriously. I understand how to read the tea leaves. I'm just breaking the forum's balls.

Nicholson
Eastwood
Dean
Caine (Could've went with quite a few others but just picked him for Blame It On Rio)
