They're getting older and whiter.....
Mary J. Blige is 47.
Just tuning in. Has it just been one big circle jerk about #MeToo, female empowerment and Donald Trump so far, or has it actually been a good show?
Eiza is like a mix of Jessica Alba and Gal Gadot... can I get an amen?
Yes.are you making a documentary?
If you want to see an awesome movie then it’s three billboards. The acting in that movie is amazing.
This year is more about seeing acting in specific movies than seeing one or two epic films. Gary oldman is awesome, Margot Robbie is grea, everyone in billboards is awesome.
Best picture and directing very lackluster this year. I predict Guillermo will win director since he made a very artistic although slightly boring film, but he used a lot of metaphors and nicely done scenes that the academy likes.
Best picture will go to the post, I’m almost sure of it. The last two years they denied the actual best pictures in lieu of socially “relevant”films in spotlight and moonlight. This year with all the speech issues and women’s issues, the post is prob gonna give them the tinglies.
And Streep will win so she can give a speech. It should go to frances mcdormand but I just know the academy is gonna push hard for Meryl.
What shit nominations.
Where the fuck is IT for costume design? And Skaarsgard for supporting actor?
Looks like DDL is getting his 4th Oscar aswell.
Jesus Christ Petey, do you need a safe space? Maybe lay off r/TheDonald for awhile. If I see one more fucking white male win a goddamn award I swear to fucking god I am gonna burn down the university I attend
I could hear the actors speaking perfectly fineofc the film in which you couldn’t hear a fucking word the actors were saying won for Sound Mixing. lol. the academy clearly has no clue what the sound categories mean.
The winners so far:Oh, this already started... who has won so far?
Kathryn Bigelow for The Hurt Locker is the only one to do itMy predictions:
Best Picture: Oscars always goes social justice warrior over substance for this category so I believe Get Out (black director) or Call Me By Your Name (gay borderlinephilic romance movie) will are locks. I liked Get Out a lot, so I wouldn't mind if it won. I haven't seen CMBYN.
I have seen 5 of the nominees (Darkest Hour, Dunkirk, Get Out, The Shape of Water, Three Billboards). My personal pick would be Shape of Water, but I'm biased for the genre, lead actress, and director.
Best Directing: Haven't seen Phantom Thread but PTA is a genius. Peele hit it out of the park in his debut. I'm betting on Greta Gerwig, rooting for Guillermo. Has a woman won best director before (Copalla, right?)?
Best Actress: Love Frances, but this role wasn't worthy of nomination (neither was the movie, imo). I'm rooting for Hawkins, but it will probably be Hannah. Haven't seen I, Tonya, but Robbie looked amazing in the trailers.
Best Actor: Gotta be Gary. I didn't think Darkest Hour was that great, nor did I think this was one of Gary's better roles, but he is marvelous just the same. This is an oscar bait role for a career lacking its proper celebration.
Original Screenplay: Three Billboards will win. Adapted Screenplay: Logan (please)
Supporting Actor: Love Rockwell, but didn't think this role deserved a nom. Didn't see Dafoe's movie, but I plan to and he looks great in it. Rooting for him.
Supporting Actor: Alison Jani looked like she killed it. Rooting for her.
Editing: Baby Driver
Visual Effects: Planet of the Apes should win.
Sound Editing: Dunkirk might actually deserve this one.
Costume Design: This is legit the tightest race seeing as all the nominees did bang up jobs.
Cinematography: Blade Runner (another good category (Dunkirk, Shape of Water, and Darkest Hour were all very solid in this area, but BR was a painting).
Production Design: Blade Runner
