Health insurance can cost you more sometimes. They'll charge you out the ass if you have good insurance, but will write off a lot if you're uninsured. Literal insanity. And it started in Texas! The first health insurance company was Blue Cross Blue Shield, which was a sort of hospital network discount club for teachers in Fort Worth-- an HMO in other words. They had to be unmarried women. Once you were married or knocked up, you couldn't be a teacher anymore. Saner times? Some would say yes.

another interesting bit of history is that employer-sponsored health insurance took off during WWII. There was a wage freeze, so to attract employees companies offered health benefits

RIP to the guy, not my favorite grappling personality but , of course, I didn't actually knew him, maybe he was a nice guy. What I find strange is that now they have a gofundme on his Instagram when less than a year ago he was bragging about his six figures cars and seven figures ranch....it's like Americans live at the brink of bankruptcy regardless of how wealthy they seem

yeah it's not uncommon for some people in big houses with nice cars to have basically no savings. especially with cars, people get these crazy high monthly payments they can't afford. I just saw repossessions are increasing
