I know even with HI, that medical bills are bad, but I didn't know they were literally insane. Hell to me, it seems HI isn't really that helpful, especially considering having HI literally affects how you're treated, and can in essence override your doctors recommend treatment for the patient. Also the fact that they deem certain ailments treatments "non essential" is borderline criminal, if you take my money, you should be required to do the treatments I want, or at minimum under the doctors recommendations since not only are they medically educated, they're there in prison at the situation.


That's not even beginning to touch the red tape beaucratic bullshit. :mad:
 
At least he got to watch Strickland KTFO’d before he passed.

Pretty sure not yet . Hate to speculate but I would guess heart attack ? Dude was obese ( though heavily muscled ) and had heart problems I heard and addiction issues. Rumors of steroid use too but not confirmed . All together , not a recipe for Health and clean açaí bowl living .

Visited his gym in LA back in the day just to try it out. He ran it military style. Lots of aggro dudes in there and white belts trying super hard to impress him. There were a lot of stories about him and how he ran his gym, not many of which were positive. Anyway, he's passed on now. RIP Orlando.

It depends on a lot of things. Is there an annual out of pocket maximum?
An HMO is good if you want to avoid unexpected costs.
I prefer a PPO but I’m not too concerned about out-of-pocket expenses in the long cent I want to choose my provider or procedure.

It depends on your employer. Your question is kind of like asking do Americans make $50k or do they make $200k.

The best employers will pay ALL medical enrollment fees. Not a dollar is deducted from paychecks. Usually union jobs. Mine also contributes to an annual fund to pay for out-of-pocket or deductible expenses. It rolls over year to year.

most corporate jobs there is a shared cost where the employer pays the majority and the employee puts up some.

All I've seen so far was that he passed in his sleep at home.

Could be cardiac or something else.

Health insurance can cost you more sometimes. They'll charge you out the ass if you have good insurance, but will write off a lot if you're uninsured. Literal insanity. And it started in Texas! The first health insurance company was Blue Cross Blue Shield, which was a sort of hospital network discount club for teachers in Fort Worth-- an HMO in other words. They had to be unmarried women. Once you were married or knocked up, you couldn't be a teacher anymore. Saner times? Some would say yes.
 
Not that insurance companies won't pull some sneaky stuff, but because of "Obamacare" (the ACA, affordable care act) people in US get certain "preventive" services covered with no out of pocket cost. This should include an annual "wellness exam" or what we think of as a checkup. But if you call for a visit and say you've been having heart palpitations or bloody stool, then the diagnostic tests done for that stuff won't be free.

Ultimately we should be honest with our doctor, but if you phrase your visit as just preventive and not for specific problems, it should be covered.
