Online purchases - ever been ripped off?

I still haven't got a halloween prop I ordered when I was a kid...its been almost a decade.

Not really. I had one cd delayed from the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

I have had a few items that were put on backorder that pissed me off, but never ripped off.

I have been buying crap online since 1997.

I buy online all the time. But I just purchased something off of ebay for the first time (batman #0-13 New 52 issues all first printing). Let's hope I don't gwt ripped off lol

I once ordered some special printing paper at $3.35 dollars a sheet, I bought 200 sheets. USPS lost my package, and i never got refunded.

Does that count?

no, but my friend did. he bought a computer off a guy, met at a gas station, gives guy $500 bucks, goes home, plugs it in, does not work.

i only really feel comfortable buying off zappos/amazon/6pm/dsw among many other places.

I try to avoid buying comics off ebay now. When I did, I made sure to include a note to the seller to pack them securely and add padding. Many times they have sent them without padding and the corners get bent/damaged even though they are bagged/boarded. I also try to avoid people who don't list the item condition.

I've had a couple of comics and some TPBs arrive damaged, but luckily ebay sided with me each time and I got a refund.

Take pictures of the packaging/item if it comes damaged and immediately send a message to the seller if this happens. You can now attach pics with your messages on ebay.

Def will keep this in mind. Especially since I put up a good penny for these titles.

I've been buying stuff online for years. Buying from everyone from large stores to regular people on ebay. I've never really had a serious issue.

I bought my sister a christmas present one year from Merchnow.com a band music/merchandise website for all these random ass bands

Anyways I bought the sweater and it took about two months to arrive. It showed up just before we left on our christmas trip to Calgary but it was some seriously bad customer service on their part. only upside to that site was everything is DIRT cheap

Google Charlie Wenzel.

He ripped off a bunch of people on a 4x4 forum and got completely owned for it.

When buying things that aren't from a legit store or ebay, do your research on the person using their name and email. I was working out a craigslist deal with this guy on the other side of the state and it seemed shady for me. I ended up doing a ton of research and figuring out his handle on a forum. I read a bunch of posts and he was a good dude on there and turned out to be a good guy in real life. If I didn't find anything on him, I never would have made the deal because it just seemed fishy at first.

I bought Harvest Moon Magical Melody not realised it was pre-order. I couldn't return it so I waited patiently for a few months till the date it came out, By the time I looked back the guy had closed up shop without refunding me. I looked through the items in his closed shop and 90% of the items for sale were pre-orders for games that were already out. Finally I looked at his user name and face palmed. His name was LIQUID8.

That dude must have scammed so many people before running off. Ebay allow such huge scams to slip through the net. If that was a real shop doing this there'd be war.

I ordered an item from a seller through Amazon. I got the wrong item and tell Amazon about it. I get a refund the same day and they offer me 1 day shipping if I decide to reorder and I can keep the item that was sent. Ok. I get the package the next day and it is the same item that was sent out the first time! Amazon once again refunds the money the same day and lets me keep the items.

Amazon was great but the seller was terrible.

Never been scammed. One time I actually got something extra, though.

I messaged one of my favorite bands after they had been broken up for a couple of months to see if they had any stock left over. I bought a shirt and after three months it still didn't show up so I e-mailed the guitarist. He was super apologetic and said he's been trying to form a new band, work, personal life, etc.

Two weeks later, my shirt arrived AND he sent me a copy of a split they made with one of my other favorite bands. I stil have that shrink-wrapped CD and I'm never opening it. The shirt's quality is seriously lacking, though. I wore it to three shows and it tore every single time. It's retired in my closet now.

yes, it was not a recent pic...

www.bookdepository.co.uk - say goodbye to your money my friend! Cheap AND free postage worldwide.

Ninja - my costume arrived late too but it was Guy Faux so ill have plenty of use for it. How much did you lose though?

About $70 bucks. Oh well though. 2 weeks before Halloween realizing it wasn't coming in on time, I made another costume (it was for my friend) and it ended up being 10 times better.

No, but paying the Fed Ex prices when ordering online felt like I was being ripped off.

Bought a pair of shocks from a website for 80 bucks. I figured they were like a nike warehouse for older models. Shoes come in and they are fake. Threw em away.

Ebay before they cracked down was BS. I bought 2 games for my XMAS present and received neither... filed a suit against guy.
