I don't want us to become isolationist, but I'm totally okay with cutting down our military presence abroad. So far as I can tell, protecting American interests really just means pursuing further conflict for an excuse to fund war hawks and military personnel (I'm not knocking our military here. They follow orders, as they should in most cases).
