One Random Irish Guy Calls For MMA Ban, Bashes Conor McGregor After MMA Death

It's just the fixation on America by Europeans, brought on by their massive inferiority complex and victim mentality. Everything has to relate back to us, their boogie man, somehow. Surprised he didn't refer to the United States as "Murica" and say something about shitty beer, since repeating stupid crap like that really seems to appeal to their herd mentality

There's certainly more going on than he and critics of MMA generally like to admit. But I think it's high time that the prize fighting community comes to grips with the accuracy of statements like this:

“The truth is that violent sports are a rich man’s play thing, where poor men try to put each other into a coma for our amusement."

I believe it's possible to be a fan and follower of the sport and still grapple with these realities.

100%.

Fuck this anti-American fake flopping dipshit. Equating boxing and MMA to fucking slaves fighting trained killers for their freedom. Fuck outta here.
Yeah fuck this liberal BS dumbest crap I've ever heard

Roman history is one of my favorite time periods. You are correct in the statement that death in the arena between two gladiators was fairly rare. Generally speaking they spent a lot of time, effort and currency bringing these fighters up and if one were to be executed by the others gladiator the executioners master generally had to pay expenses to cover the others loss. On another side note I've always found it interesting how gladiators are portrayed. They weren't the muscled up warriors you would expect but generally fairly overweight as the extra fat acted as an armor to reduce fatal blows.
Yes, the factual history is pretty interesting. But it doesn't fit the desired audience interest for Hollywood. I guess no one wants to see a bunch of hairy, fat guys not fight one another to the death. Unfortunately, film is how many of us remember history, rather than actually seeking the facts.

I have a guaranteed way to eliminate car crash fatalities.....

Eliminate cars.

Fuck this Irish hippie. The Irish beat themselves into comas outside of pubs every weekend.

This prick isn't Irish, no real Irishmen thinks like this estrogen tongued jabroni.

looked for the writer, it was a woman.

Don't care.

“Is it good enough that a young man be beaten to death in a cage for our amusement?"

Expect that's not what happened, 2 people agreed to fight and one of them unfortunately died. Should we ban everything that kills people? how about hockey games?

Agreed. If these guys really cared about preventing deaths, they should try to ban auto racing. Over 500 people have died in the past 25 years in the U.S. alone. Worldwide? God only knows.

8 people died playing soccer/footbal last year alone.

A lot of times soccer deaths are related to head injuries from collisions. What a fucking hypocrite.
I had a look at this and most of them seem to be deaths due to internal issues, like cardiac arrest or hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Though there are certainly deaths due to collision. While his argument is pretty specious and erroneous for the most part, I do feel like their is a difference between deaths that happen due to collisions in sports like soccer where it isn't the goal at all vs a sport where the goal is to incapacitate someone else. It does definitely appeal to some primal shit within us. But I feel like it's safe enough and the people who get hurt are volunteers, so while its regrettable it's not morally that dirty. And as many people have noted, banning mma doesn't really make sense unless you ban every full contact sport. It looks more dangerous than it is, boxing, Am football, Hockey, they are all more lethal.

He's one of those anti-MMA rugby douchebags.... next.

Dude you should get out more. In Latin American culture it is not at all like that. I'd encourage you to come down to South Fla and go to any of the numerous nightly pickup games and see how many ":eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:s" you can intimidate. Would be hilarious.

I mean your liberal use of the word ":eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:" just screams ignorance, how old are you and what is your education level?

What is the average number of times the medics will run a stretcher out onto a soccer pitch because some poofter is writhing around like he's been shot? Twice? Three times? Four times a game? But then he's miraculously healed by the magic spray and he jumps up and scores three goals.

Do you want to know how many times I've seen a stretcher come out on a rugby pitch in my career either playing or watching? Three times. 1. guy broke his neck. 2. guy shattered he femur 3. guy was knocked unconscious.

I would love to see how many of these tough guys you reference step into an MMA ring or onto a rugby pitch. I know that they are afraid as our teams have trained alongside soccer :eek::eek:s and they want no part of a man's sport.

Sorry dude. Like I said - the game is cool. But it attracts poofters all over the place and you will never convince me otherwise.

The guy presented it well, unfortunately risk, freedom and choice are things that we are able to action if we want.

If society chooses to ban sports or activities that have the potential for fatalities than someone has a big job ahead of them. Before mma we should start with horse riding, driving a car to work, car racing, bicycling, snowboarding, rock climbing, etc...

Not really a society I want to live in. And while banning car racing would decrease fatalities and stop my PVR from missing half of the reality show I was wanting to watch, it is not my choice to make.

Moreover, his assertion that if someone were to start up some kind of armed combat league that it would even be legal, be available on ppv, or be widely watched is laughable. There is no way any country outside of maybe like Saudi Arabia or something would condone this. And if TV providers didnt carry mma for the longest time, this guy seriously thinks they would want to deal with the backlash from carrying a death match league? It would probably be broadcasted from a barge in international waters via some sketchy domain like Fiji or some pacific island. People aren't quite as bloodthirsty as they were back in those days, and people don't watch these sports to see people die. Get hurt and concussed, yes, absolutely, but it's hardly like anybody is cheering for deaths in sports, mma or otherwise. I don't think it's plausible to say that it would "sweep the planet".

Because you say we're an evolving species, yet present facts disproving it.

Heads up for the future - We aren't evolving. Tech is, but we aren't.
Facts disproving it? Ummm are millions still nazis and racist? lol I think my post flew over your head

You couldn't be more wrong. We are evolving. You realize people make the evolving technology, right? And you realize as recently as the 90s being gay wasn't socially accepted?

Not to be rude or spark any heated argument but 1 in 5 or 1 in 10 kind of follows along with my statement of fairly rare. Mainly what I'm referreferencing is the true execution of the gladiator (if he was still after succumbing to the stronger foe) a lot of the gladiators died after the battles due to obvious lack of modern medical practices.
Well I guess it would be relative to whatever you're comparing it to. Compared to Gladiator with Russel Crowe? Yeah. It's relatively rare.

If something leads to a death 10-20% of the time, I wouldn't say that, as a lone figure, that it would be considered "fairly rare".

Play a man's sport like MMA, rugby or football. Just because you're 6'1" and 250lbs doesn't make you a tough guy either (not saying you aren't - I don't know you). Anyone coming out of any of those three sports wouldn't even blink walking in to your soccer game.

Just because an MMA guy plays soccer doesn't mean that soccer is a tough sport. Like I said - the game attracts :eek::eek:s across the board.

Dude there's millions of soccer players who would absolutely destroy you in a fight or a contest of toughness.

As far as it attracting people of a certain sexual preference, it honestly says more about you then anything. That overly homophobic guy who turns out to be gay himself? Yeah that sounds like you.

most sports are simulations of war. there's no pretend bullshit in fighting. nba players want to throw bows when the ref isn't looking, nhl players get in fights all the time, football is slamming heads together. all of those want to just fight. some chose combat sports instead. banning it is pretending other sports aren't violent, hiding behind their rules.
