ONE: DAWN OF HEROES

Believe or not they live bet in Thailand and fighters have handlers and he has been fighting since he was 8 so....if you have it. you are taught to somewhat throw early rounds so the people betting on you make more money. It’s a whole thing. He could change it up now. But he does that shit every fight.
Is that why? I figured it was to preserve their bodies. I remember I was so excited to see stadium fights in bangkok, had wanted to do it for like 10 years, when I want to thailand and was so disappointed when I actually saw them. I figured holy shit I'm watching guys fight in a wednesday night and they have another fight card thursday, friday, and saturday.. these guys fight all the time, they must just be trying not to get fucked up so they can support their families with the $20 they earn tonight and earn another $20 next week.

Yeah gambling and MT go hand and hand there are a bunch of documentaries that really delve into it.

Great performance in the 2nd round from Martin Nguyen, totally picked Matshushima apart.

I heard about that and learned a bunch of hand signals to bet money, I was so excited. I was at one of the 2 big stadiums in bangkok, and there were no gamblers whatever weekday night it was. I learned all those hand signals for nothing.

Damn I'm liking this Nguyen fella. Big bombs and great pressure, wore Matsushima out and closed the show. Props to Matshushima though, he showed a great chin taking some of those bombs.

Martin kinda seems slower in this fight compared to his other fights. Well, a win is a win. Still the Champ!
If Matsushima had some good cardio, he could've lasted longer. But Nguyen still wins at the end.

Would be demoralizing to get beat by a dude named The Situ-Asian.

how well do you guys think martin would do in the UFC? is he elite or top 10?

Matsushima reminded me why it's important to develop good striking defense when you have a kyokushin background.

I used to compete in kyokushin all of my teen's year and was pretty good fighter and when I made the switch to an mma gym with good boxer and MT fighter, I got lit up.

Once I focused on boxing for a few years and mixed it with my kyokushin background, it made a decent mix of style that was really effective against mma guys.

But holy shit the first 2 years of getting punch in the head were a real wake up call about that false sense of security you develop in Kyokushin where it's not allowed.

Your sense of distance and timing is totally different.

Iol that’s funny they also don’t trust foreigners in Thailand that much. They aren’t mean to tourists (I’ve only been once) but you probably weren’t at the right spots. Would have been way cooler if you got into one of those shady arenas were they are going crazy gambling like it’s the kumite. I never went to the gambling shady arenas either when I was there. I would stick out like a sore thumb.

Seriously ONE is doing great.

I feel very satisfied from this card.

Probably top ten maybe higher. I thought he looked pretty damn good, he displayed some good skills and patience. Would he pass usada though? Probably not.
