It's kind of a freakshow fight, Cejudo obviously doesn't even deserve an immediate title shot at FW. And Volk would be a very big favorite due to hia massive size advantage.
But still; it's triple-C going for the third belt, so that's kind of intriguing.

I've got nothing for but respect for Cejudo in the cage. The guy is incredibly talented. He's a warrior. He's a very diverse and mentally tough person who is continually improving.

That said, Volkanovski might be one of the most determined and mentally strong fighters I've ever seen. He willed himself through two locked in submissions against Ortega. He's calculated. Intelligent. He has a team that can help him put together an amazing game plan that he can apply and then switch up mid-fight if it isn't going right (see Max/Volk II rounds 3-5 for proof).

Volk is undoubtedly stronger. He's a better striker. He won't gas. He has a hell of a chin. He can war (miss me with the boring hate and look at the Mendes and Ortega fights) or play tactics with the best of them.

In my eyes, he would put it on Henry like Moraes did early - albeit differently - and he won't gas, fade or wilt mentally and get bullied or shut down.

Henry in my eyes lost to DJ in that second fight. He was being beat down soundly by Moraes before that incredible comeback. He beat an emaciated and borderline sick and delusional TJ.

He would hurt Henry.

That isn't a knock on Henry. That's a testament to Alexander. He truly is great. It's an apt moniker.

Your analysis of both fighters is extremely fair and on point.

That said, this would be the very definition of a Super Fight - none of that fake stuff like the BMF belt, or a champ moving up when no one asked for it. Cejudo is one of the best and most well known champion ever at 135 and 125. He has only one decisive loss to MM that he avenged. He's coming off of 3 KOs of two all time great BWs and the BW champ (at the time). Then there's the story of him coming out of retirement to take on this fight that we know he can sell (as cringy as he is). He could shock the world and become the first ever 3 division champion in the UFC.

And I would also guess that he would only be like a +250 underdog or less. I don't remember the odds, but I'm guessing if Cejudo wins, it would be on the level of TJ beating Barao, Cejudo beating MM, Nunes over Cyborg but less of an upset than Holm over Rousey or Serra over GSP.

I'd be interested but really if this is gonna happen Cejudo should take a warm up fight first. He hasn't fought in ages and coming back to fight the best in a higher division would be tough even without the cage rust.

Would be a great fight. Cejudo is the only flyweight I have any interest in whatsoever. Too bad Dana called his bluff when he "retired". The UFC should make this fight happen though. Would love to see Volkanovski get KTFO, but at the same time I don't know if I could stand Cejudo becoming triple champ.

i agree with the dj thing. but it was close enough and we all believe DJ sand bagged a bit
now on the marlon thing.
got to be very fair to the whole CCC team and give them all props.
i had marlon in that fight hands down nqa
round 1 was all marlon just a clinic.
camera focused in on henry and his corner. this is the exact moment i became a CCC fan and put hespek on him
his corner asked him what he wanted, he wanted to be champ. they told him what to do.
you are getting beat up in range and you are letting him "not direct quotes" you need to go forward with pressure and stay behind your jab. you have to put him on his back foot or you are going to lose.

henry absorbed every word. confidence grew 6ft tall. (had to make 1 short joke even if poorly placed)
he ran at marlon at the 2nd bell and marlons eyes went wide like who is this guy. and henry took over and beat magics ass soundly. maybe worse than marlon was whooping on him in the 1st.

i need to rewatch that and try to find between round audio. is a true piece of ufc gold imo.

that said. i cant just rule out CCC vs anyone that weighed in at the same weight he does. i do slightly favor volk. but i think CCC has that same will of fire as volk and can absolutely find a way with the will.

Outside of the top 2, the only fighter I think that could possibly have a shot against Volk is Giga, and I don't think he yet deserves a title shot (1 fight away). IMO he should be fighting Ortega next, and then a fight between the winners of the Max/Yair and Ortega/Chikadze get the title shot.

So long story short, why the hell not have Cejudo vs Volk? Good names, great fighters, and breaks up the monotony of rematches (though Max does deserve, and ultimately will have, his trilogy fight).
