It's the same with with the whole McGregor phase, he was obviously a pretty good fighter at one point, but his popularity was light years beyond his actual ability, so it's not just that he was a good fighter, it's that he was also pushed by the promotion, and had a gimmick that appeals to a certain type of low IQ fans, and makes other fans wanna tune in to see him get silenced. His actual fighting ability is decent, but there are plenty of more impressive fighters who didn't get half the promotion he got from the company. The whole hyperbole by the commentators telling you he's got "star power" and some "it factor" whatever the fuck that means, he was in large part popular because they told you he's popular.

Talbott went from fighting 3 low level guys to getting Raoni lol.

These are pushes. It's not just about how much commentary is sucking them off. And these pushes are happening because of what they're doing in the octagon, not what they look like or what lame tiktok gimmick they might have.

At the same point in their UFC careers, Suga had more wins than both guys and his KOs were about the same level as Talbott's. Suga also got his push in the same way. He would have gotten someone like Chito next like he did, and then an easieir but still good profile matchup after that regardless of his gimmick. Talbott lost his first push fight and he's got Felipe Lima next lol. They're getting the same sort of treatment.

The UFC were talking Talbott up the same way they were talking Suga up too, like he was some unstoppable striking phenom. Then Raoni got a hold of him.

I never said I preferred Conor or Colby's approach over any of the fighters you listed. As a fan, I'd take Fedor, Mirko, Silva, GSP, etc. over Conor or Colby any day. I'm just pointing out that what you seem to think of as star power isn't the same as what the UFC or any other marketing company does.

If the UFC can deliver a quality product while making the most profit, then obviously that's what they would prefer to do. What business wouldn't? But if they have to choose, they'll choose profit over quality. We all know this. We all saw CM Punk, Suga's 2nd title shot, Conor's free shot at the LW belt, Colby's undeserved title shot, etc.
