O'Malley by Knockout

Mannnn…what is this parallel universe I just fell into??? Haven’t watched O’Malley since his first few UFC fights and the guy was exciting?? He had feints and accuracy with a slick style. Was fun to see and like a smaller version of Anderson. He was doing the basketball dribble thing which I thought was a breath of fresh air in corpo UFC…

Did he get too much Dana White privilege or something? Or angered people on social media??? Somebody fill me in to explain all the hate please.

I remember the same with Ronda. I was cut off from media and watched all the fights without commentary, she was fun to watch. Then I realized the amount of hate out there once I came back online a couple of years later.

i could picture him winning a dodgy controversial decision. Some people with bad eyesight think sean won the first fight and UFC took note of that thinking the blow back will be containable if they orchestrate another robbery. They might be licking their chops hiring the judge dick suck bribery hoes to plant under the judge's table as we speak. They have a fight upcoming that they know will most likely go to the judges. They see that as a chance to make their move.

Phenomenal strikers should fight in boxing?
I'm sure he'd love to but I don't think that UFC want that.

He is a phenomenal striker.
As are many other MMA fighters.
Not boxing doesn't define it.
The money is in boxing not MMA if you are phenomenal

Just revealing your own biases, not anyone else's

Making out he’s “special” when he couldn’t put away walking punch bag Chris Moutinho (was that even the guys name) is just silly.

He has decent striking by MMA standards. He isn’t special.

Just because Moutinho has a super strong chin. You can even tell by the guy's massive head and neck. That doesn't mean O'Malley isn't special - even if he wasn't that powerful or as powerful as it seems, I didn't say anything about power, I said timing, and he was piecing Moutinho up all night - didn't knock him out... so? Lol, Nate Diaz is another one with a freakish chin, does that mean nobody who fought him is special? Just because he didn't get knocked out. Silly.

Sean actually did have Merab hurt from that kick to the body in the 5th round. If he can land something like that in the 1st or 2nd round his chance of winning goes up dramatically.

He's decent for sure but a bit over rated on that front

Well not really, as striking is not just punching is it. Boxing is just punching.

He didn't say 'phenomenal puncher'.

It's sherdog, so pretty much every fighter sucks. Even the undefeated ones.

I give O'Malley a very decent shot to find the finish. He should be able to improve on his first performance if he's healthier now, and with another full camp for Merab.

I still don't think they should have given him the instant rematch, though.

That 5th round definitely wasn't comfortable for Merab. He was hurt and in run mode.

No doubt in my mind Sean is going to attack the body again with kicks, including that exact teep.

Sean is polarizing because he's odd looking and was a young success. Personally I don't care about that stuff and he's built a successful brand and income outside the UFC.

Sean is a smart dude when it comes to preparation and strategy, look at his absolute domination of Chito in their rematch. He out classed him showing maturity and improvement.

What Merab does with cardio and point fighting is incredible, but he doesn't stop fights. Sean has lights out power and is a sniper, I think he's a live dog here.

Absolutely. Now, I'm expecting Merab to make adjustments just as well as Sean is going too because I think they both learned a lot about each other in that fight. But we've seen Merab get wobbled by Cejudo and hurt by Sean as well. He's not this invincible monster.

People are biased against Sean for reasons unrelated to fighting but I think people who are just looking at skills and analyzing this situation see Suga has a chance to win this.

O'Malley by KO is the bet play for sure due to odds

That doesn't mean its actually going to happen in reality though.. I think we're going to see something very similar to the first fight

His only winning g strategy is throwing power shots and NOT fighting gvin fear of td. Merab takes you down but not best at keeping you there. Just accept your goung to have to spend alot of time getting up just try and clock him when standing. I see it 85/15 Merab as far as chsnce of winning
He can win if he keeps Merab backing up, or basically fight at range with the high knee up the middle, long jabs and tip kicks to keep Merab away.

If Merab gets in close, it’s a wrap for Sean.

I will feel a kinship with the few here who will speak about how like me, they once disliked O'Malley but have slowly grown to like him in the aftermath and lead up to this fight.

now officially an unapologetic fan of his.
I think I've become that way with both of them. Sean comes off as much more down to earth than I initially thought, playing a character, a kid making his money.
Merab is just a workhorse with a respectable, lovable personality, but he'll dump you on your head if you talk shit.

Yeah, he should have been spamming those front body kicks way earlier.

It was sort of like with Alex against Ank, they were so preoccupied with the takedown threat that their striking offense took a backseat.
