Cliffs:
She did say this though
Btw, she was 28 at the time of the audition while Margot Robbie, who eventually got the part, was 22. Leo was 37. Do you guys think she was too old? Would you have preferred her in the part over Robbie? And are actresses held to an unreasonably high and unfair standard when it comes to their youth?
Personally can sort of see the logic. She's not too old but she has a look about, probably from her jawline, that makes her look more mature when compared to Margot Robbie who looks more girlish to me. Though I think Wilde is hotter could've pulled that role off Robbie seems to be the better pick in hindsight.
I get that its frustrating for some actresses to get skipped over for roles in their early 30s but I think that this happens more to actresses that play very specific roles when they're younger. Sigourney Weaver was 30 when Alien came out and 35 when Ghostbusters came out. She has had a fairly steady stream of employment since then. If you've based your career on playing different variations of an attractive youthful character you're probably going to have a tougher time getting roles as you age. Weaver didn't do that and she hasn't had that trouble it seems.
- Olivia Wilde auditioned for Wolf of Wall Street
- Didn't get the part, Margot Robbie did
- Agent told her its because she's too sophisticated
- It was actually because she was too old
- Scorsese ended up casting her in a TV show called Vinyl because of her audition though
http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/...oo-old-for-wolf-of-wall-street-role/81852410/On Howard Stern's show, after being asked if she’s ever lost out on a role because she’s “too beautiful,” the 32-year-old actress talked about auditioning for Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf Of Wall Street, and getting turned down for the role of Leonardo DiCaprio's wife because she was too “sophisticated.”
"The funniest thing I heard recently was I had heard for a part that I was too sophisticated. And I was like, 'Oh, that sounds nice. I like that feedback. I didn't get the part, but I'm a very sophisticated person.' And then I found out later that they actually said "old." I want to make a translation sheet for Hollywood that's all the feedback your agents give you and what it really means.
