Oliveira going to Abu Dhabi late

Unless it affects his weight cut, I don't think it will be much of a factor. I'm more interested in what his gameplan will be this time around.

The fact that he refused to watch the first fight and identify his mistakes instead chalking it up to "mental games" is not encouraging. I'll bet Islam has rewatched the Volk fight in order to get better.

I’m not speculating about whether traveling all the way to Abu Dhabi will be a factor, but Khabib insists it will be a factor and has said Charles needs to go out there early. I tend to defer to Khabib seeing as he’s both fought and coached in Abu Dhabi numerous times and has an extremely high IQ in all facets of the sport, personally I think his words should be taken very seriously.

To your second point, I think Oliveira seems to be in denial about the first fight. I don’t know if he’s truly examined every aspect of the last fight, including how he prepared, how early he traveled, etc.
 
What is Abu Dhabi do you have to acclimate to? The time zone? That shouldn't take anyone more than a week. Hell I've adjusted to a 12-hour change just by sleeping 6 hours in the middle of the day and going to bed normal time.

If it were an elevation thing I'd say yeah, you need more than a week for sure

*edit: Also i wasn't cutting weight (unless you count getting diarhea) so I guess the weight cut might make sleep adjustment a pain

If he is going 2 weeks in he is not immediately cutting weight, he just needs to get used to the sleep schedule, 2 weeks are enough for that.

The weight cut process starts 2 weeks out from the fight. Well, it actually starts even earlier but it starts to ramp up 2 week before the fight.
 
Yeah it's a mistake. Although bringing a personal chef and having a private plane does help
 
I mean, a guy that shit on Charles in every opportunity now is "concerned" about his welfare, when he goes to Abu Dhabi etc... You and Khabib should take care of your own lives instead, how about that? You and him don't have anything to do with Charles team decision, you should take care of Islam Makhachev instead.

And I was born in a city next to his, there on summer can go 40º and thermic sensation (hotness, dunno the right word in english) is like almost 50º because of the air humidity. So, I can guarantee you all he is not concerned AT ALL about temperature, once he lives there since always. And jetlag he can do his thing, not ideal but no problem.

His real problems we already know, AbuDhabiWeight scales, corruption for preferred fighters and stuff, so if they don't rob him like against Gaethje in US he will be doing fine as he always does since 2016 (real last time he missed weight, against Lamas).

Charles is happy and doing alright, he is far more concerned about being able to do his thing this time than anything. He doesn't care what randoms like you and Snorlax Pokémon Khabib think, he doesn't have time for bs.

Maybe Charles has already changed his daily scedule to fit closer to UTC+4? That is one way to deal with the jetlag and meanwhile he does not need to worry if he is allowed to enter any gym to train, or do some Abu Dhabi tourism visit Dubai promotion all day and can just concentrate on his performance.
 
What am I missing other than dry air? Abu Dhabi isn't at altitude
