Fable will let me romance nearly all of its 1000 NPCs "with a very few exceptions,"

"You can talk to them, you can romance them, you can marry them. You can divorce them or be divorced by them," Fulton says. "You can have children with them. You can hire them. You can fire them. They are [the NPCs] kind of a game within a game, but they are such a unique, fundamental part of Fable."

might have to name my character bonnie blue. gonna run a train and produce a whole army of kids. or just be a dude and knock everybody up at their apartments and then leave and never come back.

modders are gonna have some fun with this.

there's literally a brothel in fable anniversary. they better bring it back in the remake. im gonna fill a whole whorehouse chockers full of my bastard children.

They are in a very weird position. They had so many games in the PS top 10 selling games and yet their last quarterly report the Xbox division performed below expectations. I'm not sure what the answer for them is. I thought releasing games on all platforms would help but it doesn't seem to be helping much at all. The market is flooded with so many good games right now that it's just very hard to compete in that space.
Ultimately, I think it comes down to branding. You make enough bad decisions, and your brand is now connected with bad decisions. The X/S are fine consoles, BUT, they don't care to accentuate their strengths, and instead focus on...I don't even know. "Game Pass" was their one ace in the hole, and they fucked that up overnight by increasing it's price by a substantial amount for seemingly no reason other than greed. I can make excuses for it, as I think you are still getting a lot of bang for your buck, but a 50% increase just like that? People will notice.

They bought out HUGE studios, but for what benefit? Elder Scrolls VI...eventually? These studios have not done anything for them, and it's a pattern with them. They bought "Rare" back in the day, and if it wasn't for some random ass success like "Sea Of Thieves", it would be a complete bust. Now they have a fleet of once great developers just releasing average to shit games, and killing their own brand along with XBOX. There's no quality control at Microsoft. They just throw money at shit and hope it works out.

The only thing I think they have an edge on, is the future of cloud gaming. It's amazing, but it's not something they will have a monopoly over once it really kicks into high gear.

As is, I think XBOX is looked at as some soulless corporate entity, that doesn't put the slightest effort into satisfying their base, and just look at people as numbers. I think they have a vision for the future, but they're trying to force it right now. Cloud/Subscription based gaming is the future, but they have to also think about the now. They don't seem to care about "the now" so much. Maybe they have enough money not to care, but they will get eaten alive, prematurely pursuing that future they envision.

Phil Spencer and Sarah Bond out at xbox and AI person is new head. Ready for the Xbox copilot?

It already exists and is currently in beta testing

Regardless of what MS puts for their next console I'll end up buying it of course.

What do you guys think of this Magnus business?

If it's basically an affordable high end-ish PC that can play the entire Xbox library, while also having access to Steam, GOG, Epic, and has the freedom that a PC entails, it could be a game changer.

It sounds like that's what they're trying to do, which I'm surprised they haven't done years ago. Tapping into PC freedom was always an Ace in their hole when they wanted to play it.

Tough to see it grabbing market share given the price.

It's specs also rule out a launch in the next 2 years unless something changes with memory supply.

The way things are going with PC memory costs, and with M$'s position, it might be one of the few ways to get a decent gaming pc at a good price in a couple of years lol.

I love the idea of a Steam Machine, but it's far too weak for my habits. A potentially beastly/well priced Magnus, however, could have my attention. I have so many 360 games sitting in a bin, and trapped on digital, I'd love to replay upscaled too.

I don't see how they would beat prebuilds, let alone ones from SI's. The only advantage would be the console part of the system.

A lot can change in the next few years, but if Microsoft couldn't beat PS at price and feature parity, I'm not sure they'll beat em offering a bit more for a couple hundred bucks more.
