Xbox Official Xbox thread

I'd imagine it's to avoid a huge drop in people buying games and the resulting loss in revenue.

Oh I know exactly why Phil did it but @KaNesDeath is trying to pretend that Xbox has been very transparent about bringing their games everywhere since around 2017 which is just not true. This isn't even the only evidence I have just the only one I could quickly find at work.

If they've been transparent about putting their games everywhere since 2017 then why is he trying to convince people that there are only doing 4 games right now for "testing" and not to expect more?

Game development reaching specific milestones that are being announced on a XBox podcast is a different topic.

Dude, another absurdly orthogonal reply. Stop sealioning members, please. We should force-change your account handle to @GoalpostRelocationServices. How many warnings you need from Staff to dial back and self-correct?

It's definitely not true. They were even evasive about it after the first shock announcement. It's obviously been a central pivot. Once they declared Forza was going to Playstation, that was a wrap. At this point it's only a matter of time before you see Halo on Playstation.

June of 2019 interview Phil Spencer did about this:

But then I didn't want people to think this was our attempt to go and push all the other stores out of the way. In fact, if you want to buy games from us, we want to give you a choice where you buy those games.

Confused on the contentiousness here.
I am afraid you always will be.

Original claim was that games would be everywhere since 2017
You just shared a link from 2019 where putting games on other PC storefronts would be talked about.

It's actually more respectable to own up to an error than to reach, change positions, or try to prove you were originally right in some way.

I forget or am wrong about things often. It happens.

Knew it was late 2010's. Which is why i put 2017 with a question mark.

Interview itself wasnt specifically directed at Pc storefronts. Spencer was talking about all storefronts.

Phil Spencer’s interview after the big Xbox showcase was when it was beyond obvious that most, if not all Xbox games were going elsewhere.

Anybody still in denial at that point was living in la la land.

Witcher 3 is on sale on Xbox for $3.99, apparently an all-time low. Complete edition is $9.99.

Very slick. I've never used one but if I was playing SF6 now, I might have moved onto it.

How though?

Look at the placement of the directional buttons. Does not look intuitive for special moves at all.
As a keyboarder, I don't understand why the "A" and the "↑" aren't swapped. It looks ergonomic for what I assume is a left hand position: pinky on back, ring finger on down, middle finger on right, then index finger on A (which is normally jump in fighting games, right?), and finally the thumb on up. So for me, it would be more intuitive if those were swapped, since I'm used to the spacebar/left-thumb always being jump.

But I figure you'd adapt to what the apparatus is incentivizing. Right fingers along the X, Y, RB, LB. Right thumb handles the B, RT, and LT below, or maybe the right ring finger and pinky can double duty down on the RT/LT in certain situations. Right index doubles LSB. Right thumb or left index doubles RSB. Left thumb doubles P2. Left ring finger doubles P1 (or left pinky when needed).

Seems to be built with the intent of one of your two hands being directed inward more. An depending upon which hand that dictates where each digit rests at.

A perpendicular left hand would be thumb for down/P2, pointer for right strafe and so on. While the right hand directed inward more would be thumb for A/RSB, pointer for B/X and so on.

With it being a USB device(?) the etched on button definitions arent mandates. One should be able to reprogram their functionality in game settings.

Ok now I see that you could put your left hand on the directional buttons and the A button, with each finger placed on a button, but then your fingers on your right hand would rest on the buttons on the right side.. but they are so close together your hands would be in a weird position. Still looks weird to me.
