Xbox didn't really have a choice. We have to remember the MS CEO wanted to shut the division down. They had to try something new. I thought it was a great idea originally but I also wasn't sure enough people would sign up to make it sustainable. I think we are seeing that it's not and now their games will start heading to PS. The rumors I'm hearing about their next console sound like trash but it's just rumors for now so we will see.Yea unfortunately we may never actually know. All we really have is anecdotal evidence like Spencer saying "player counts are higher than ever" while they send exclusives to the competition. Then you have devs that aren't crazy about the day 1 launch on gamepass idea...
I mean I get MS wanted to provide a great value to gamers, I'm just not sold that it is sustainable.
Gaming is just a different model compared to TV\music. On top of that MS is competing with all the top games that are sucking up everyone's time and most of those are FTP. So it's a sub for gamers only and most of those gamers are playing FTP games.
