I think
@Madmick has conceded that point. Imo he’s trying to say that the Switch has shown that any reasonable console priced at or near around 275 - 300$, even with inferior hardware but solid software support, can be a market leader.
All the major retailers would sell it like hot cakes.
What I think he’s overlooking is Nintendo's brand cachet. People buy it because Nintendo has rebranded itself as a “fun” brand with easy, family oriented, pick up n play games.
These kind of games don’t require powerful hardware. That keeps the price low which in turn drives sales even more.
But my point is, Nintendo sells well because they’re the only big company that’s catering to the super casual family gamers. The price point is more like a 1b thing.
If Sony or Microsoft try that, it won’t work. It’ll just be a shitty box. As for MS, why build a Xbone X when they already have the X. It’ll be a waste of resources.
They can build a lower spec model but they can only save costs with minor changes like cheaper casing, digital only, maybe a lower spec CPU (near PS5 level).
But everything else SSD, Ray Tracing etc etc will have to stay. That’s why I think the lowest spec one is going to be in the 300s and XSX will be around 500 ( -/+ 50).
