It's really weird though because everyone has pretty much said the gameplay just isnt very good. Stealth, FPS combat, the AI is really dumb apparently. Guns are horrible to use. I was really hoping the stealth would be great. Puzzles are supposed to be excellent, so it the story, but the gameplay seems to be the worst part.

Glad the Indiana Jones game turned out great. I had low expectations so it’s always nice being pleasantly surprised with a GOTY contender.

We’ll see , I have no idea who to trust these days. Like we agreed in the dragon age thread, many reviewers are audience captured. Sadly enough I’ve gone from trusting independent reviewers to now going back and trusting the big outlets more again lmao. Even places like steam are ruined for me because of stuff like Helldivers and black myth reactionaries. The latter had 100k perfect scores within 30 minutes of release. For me I’ve found the most accurate scores on howlongtobeat and various trophy hunting sites. I think those attract a different type of gamer that completes games and cares less about culture stuff. For instance, people still attack Indy because of that one dev saying it’s being developed for modern audiences. Im rambling a bit but point is to be wary of certain reviews and always go to the comment section and that will tell you what kind of audience they attract. ACG is decent

Yea I still trust steam the most but I recognize there will be issues here and there. Seems the most reliable for me overall though.

My Xbox was updated today and it messed up the display settings once again and defaulted to lowest setting. 640x something shitty.
Restarting and playing with settings could only get it back to 1440p.
Apparently this has been going on for several years and has not been fixed. What a waste of time.

Oh, so that what that was?!? I was like "Man my Xbox is taking forever to boot up!" All of my settings are fine though.

Mine does that shit sometimes. It's so annoying

So word on the street is MS is working with Valve to make a Steamdeck Xbox hybrid device that will have a dashboard that integrates your Xbox account across multiple devices, including saves, achievements, libraries, etc.

Basically going after a higher end Switch market. It will be priced accordingly..

Sounds risky if you ask me.. I mean, Switch recently became best selling console ever, and that's while competing against the PS4, Xone, PS5, Xbox Series and various Steam Decks. Nintendo seems to be untouchable with handhelds while Sony is untouchable with consoles.

Not sure what this guys actual deal is but it appears he has a few videos where he's praising xbox box and taking a dump on Sony.

Probably just doing it for the clicks.
That's what all those videos are. Clickbait to feed a confirmation bias (or ragebait adversarial viewers). Farm view time. Profit.

I knew that's what it was the first time I saw it. I've been getting into more gaming news\podcast lately and it's filled with people like him. If you dig through the mud on youtube you can find a few reliable creators out there when it comes to gaming content but it's very rare from what I've seen.

Jeez guys, sorry. I didn't know. I didn't mean to post any spam. My bad.

I don't think anyone is mad at you. Honestly on this section of the forum I don't really see the war between fanboys of specific consoles like you would on some other gaming forums.

In regards to that video, I first thought, ok this guy is an idiot for thinking being loyal to just one brand is the way to go. Glad he moved outside of his bubble.

Then I saw other videos of his where he's clearly favoring Xbox over Playstation, so I started to wonder if he ever really was pro Playstation in the first place. Then I just figured he's doing it for the clicks, like most people do.

The "word on the street" post I made earlier about Xbox's possible future came after I saw a number of videos of different people having different takes on the same information that is out there. What's interesting about these videos is they'll usually have a click-baity thumbnail that may seem controversial and/or game-changing, but then after you spend 20+ minutes watching the video you'll actually learn very little and their takes are often not nearly as strong as the thumbnails would have you believe.

This is the reality where everyone wants to be a content creator while very few actually make any kind of original material on their own.

ANYWAY back on topic- it does suck to see Xbox trying to find its identity. They definitely took console gaming to the next level with the OG Xbox and the 360. I feel like once more people at M$ wanted to get involved that's when they got them off course and killed the momentum.

Quite possibly the most tone deaf console reveal/press conference in history.

The only thing that could top that would be something along the lines of Disney announcing they are cancelling all of their creative projects with their library of IPs and redirecting all resources to the development and sales of EVs.

IMO that conference was just the icing on the cake though- the 360 came out first and came out strong the previous gen, as it was the only console with a strong online infrastructure, the Arcade introduced an avenue for retro and smaller indy games and when PS3 and Wii ultimately came out, they simply couldn't keep up. PS3 definitely stumbled out of the gate with a high priced console that was difficult to develop for... but Sony eventually started to gain momentum, and I'm sure it was due to the RROD fiasco.

In my case I went through 5 Xbox 360s. We were told it was due to user error and the return rate was well within the 3-5% of return rates that were deemed acceptable for consumer electronics. One of the guys I played online with was a UPS driver and he used to tell me of the several "X360 coffins" he collected on a daily basis, only to find piles of them when he got the distribution hub he worked for. I got to a point where I just stopped buying games for 360 and got all my multiplat games on PS3. I didn't want to deal with an unreliable console, and I'm sure many felt the same way. Microsoft had been gaslighting everyone for a long time about the RROD issue until they were forced to extend everyone's warranty. It didn't come out until recently that the root cause of the issue was a flaw in the system's design.

Then that guy comes out to introduce the Xbox One as a device more expensive than the competition that you can use to watch TV, and well.. yea.......
