Xbox Official Xbox Series X thread



Guess they’re just taking the L on this generation and moving on. Shame, the X is a really good machine.

Pretty unprecedented for a console maker to discontinue this quickly though right? Looks like they want to force people to upgrade which makes even more sense why they have a cheaper model coming out.

The X was a good machine. I had one for a bit and I actually preferred everything about it over the PS4 except for the most important thing which is games. So I got rid of it.

That's really big news. Project xCloud at no additional cost with EA Game Pass is one more feather in the hat of the best gaming service already in existence. To put that into context, for Playstation gamers, that's like adding GeForce Now capability to PS Now.

They were going to lose this generation no matter what. It makes sense to move onto the next generation for them because unlike Playstation's model, the Xbox Series X (and also the Lockhart if it's real) will play every game those consoles play, and work with any of their accessories, too. It only makes sense to streamline with the new consoles. XSX controllers will work with the Xbox One. The older consoles are obsolete.

If Sony did that it would be a slap in the face to PS4 gamers.

It is a really good deal. However it always comes down to exclusives and at least in my opinion Sony has far better ones.

Yeah, makes sense. They got trounced this gen so putting all focus into the upcoming console makes sense.

I’d imagine the PS4 keeps getting manufactured for a while.

Sony is insane with their support for their main consoles. The last PS2 game was released in 2013. They did my baby Vita wrong though.
 
Not an Xbox guy, but pretty excited to see what they have to offer tomorrow.
 
This is only going to be a games showcase, there won't be a Series S or any price reveals. Next month we will be getting that.

Will be interesting to see who names their price first, Sony or Microsoft.

I think or Xbox especially, it is just a matter of how much money do they want to lose on each console sold.

Sony already announced another event in August, to show more games. Rumor is an unannounced launch title will be shown, or at least another big game to counter, but no date or price.
So they want to steal back some limelight.
But the rumors also say MS will be cheaper, even without series s/Lockhart, so if true doesn't help Sony much to delay anyways.

I believe it will be the same as it is for the X360. If you downloaded the game in the time frame it was available, it's yours forever, regardless if you are a subscriber or not.
