*Official WR Liberal Concession Thread*

I'm expecting worst case scenario.

  • Sea levels will rise due to policies relaxing environmental restrictions
  • Manufacturing jobs will not return to America despite repealing trade laws
  • Costs of goods will go up due to increased tariffs on imported goods (that we still won't be making ourselves)
  • Affordable Care Act repeal will bankrupt many Americans after they lose the plans they gained through the market place
This is how I see Trump's "policies" playing out.

You forgot Islamic terrorism.

They thrive on the narrative that the West hates them. They recruit based on that notion. So what does the US do? Elect a president that's openly hostile to them.

Oh, and he's also thrilled about murdering alleged terrorists' family members. That'll play well.

Yeah, agreed. But given majorities in the house and senate I fear we are going to spread our cheeks and take whatever the GOP gives us.

It's not like the GOP was in love with Trump either. Not so sure they'll do whatever he wants.

Dude just won the election with almost every swing state voting in his favor. They are all gonna fall in line scared shitless that he'll go after them.

Sure they will or they will be tossed out in the mid terms.

Maybe but they already had no issue standing up against him even after winning against the rest of the Republicans. Maybe it'll change now but I'm not so sure these people are stubborn. If people start getting voted out though yea you might be right.

So how does it's work then? When do you need 51 vs 60?
The minority party can block (filibuster) any bill, other then pure spending bills or presidential appointment if they want. To break the filibuster and bring the bill or nomination up for discussion and an vote you need 60% (which is 60 votes) to end that filibuster.

Of course these are the rules of the Senate, which can be changed as they are not spelled out in the Constitution. However both parties are unlikely to change those rules knowing at some point they will be in the minority again.

Clearly there was a ground swell I didn't see , hope Trump does a half way decent job , that's pretty much the best case scenario .

I wouldn't be so sure. Rs hate Trump almost as much as Ds.
True but they like his policies. It's basically in line with theirs, especially with regards to taxes.

I have a feeling that what the GOP wants and what Trump wants are going to be on two planets and we'll end up with the same 4-8 years of nothing except ACA getting repealed.

ACA seems to be the only thing Trump and the GOP agree on.

We might see the Democrats and the GOP working together for real this time, but their efforts are going to be focused solely on cockblocking Trump.
They're aligned on tax policy and probably agree on the SCJ or at least the type of SCJ we should have.

Congratulations to Trump and Congratulations to Trump supporters. You told me so. And I will shortly have a new sig for the next 4 years (yes, you read that right) as a reminder.

Did not see it coming. My wife asked me if the pants she was wearing made her ass look big this morning. And I said, "Why the blue fuck are you asking me, because I obviously don't know jack shit about anything"

It's really amazing. Trump has probably changed forever the way people will run for President. He did it without a huge support network, surrogates, or a great deal of advertising. Shit, he somehow did it without many Republicans helping. Just mind boggling. About the only thing worse than being a Democrat after that ass kicking is being a vocal Republican Trump hater after that ass kicking. I suspect Glenn Beck is going to be flayed alive GOT style as an offering to our new leader.

At any rate, he is my President now just as much as yours. So I will get on board, hope for the best, and objectively review his performance in 4 years.

Anyone else notice how the left leaning WR regulars have been for the most part incredibly humble? Quite a bit different from the right leaning ones I must say...

Most of the left leaners have admitted that the other side was right and hoping to move on. I know if Hillary would have won you would not see that from the Trump guys.

I totally agree. I think the left leaning folks have been totally fair here, yet posters like TCK gloated and made a thread about it. Seems like a common theme too is that we are still hoping for success even with a Trump win.

IMO, the right/libertarians in here would not only never do that, they spend a ton of time trying to shit on actual achievements of Obama.

This of course aside from a few really good right wing posters and some bad/fake liberals.

Literally the conservatives were saying they would start Civil War 2.0 if Hillary won. If that's not over reacting I don't know what is.

the democratic party is such a fucking joke they couldn't come up with a candidate that could beat donald fucking trump? hahahah

what a bunch of idiots
The funny thing is the republicans couldnt either. HAHA!

most of the right leaning people have been pretty chill in victory as well -- aside from some comical gloating after a long and emotionally vexing election. But nothing malicious.

You guys are getting way more hate and mocking from the bernie bunch.
