The way I see it is that it would only be fair play after 8 years of it from the other side.

I'm not saying I want that to happen. I'm just saying its pretty much the expected climate of politics at this point.

Even if Dems worked with Republicans in congress, you'd still have conservatives saying things like "lol those cucks bending over and doing what we say" instead of going "good for them reaching across the aisle".

Then on top of it, Dems in congress would likely end up getting tossed out by their own electorate in midterms if they cooperate. Which is why the Republicans did what they did, to win the mid terms at all costs, even if it was detrimental to the country (IE government shut downs).

So I see it as a no win situation personally.

Then why do they call 51+ seats for one party a senate majority if it doesn't enjoy the powers of your typical legislative majority (ie carte blanch)?

It because the majority does control the Senate, and not every bill can be blocked. For example pure spending bills can not be blocked in a way needed 60 votes.

I'd say it's near certain they pass tax reform that looks like the one Trump proposed or something like Ryan's plan (both similar). We will likely see financial deregulation and I think it's likely that social security as it works now is in jeopardy and Obamacare is on the chopping block. We will see a conservative SCJ get appointed, which can have a negative impact on social issues. We'll make no progress on climate change at best, and go backwards at worst.

I see these as massive negatives, but we'll see, I hope my predictions are wrong or at least I'm wrong about the outcomes.

I'm with you...but we lost. Blocking everything for 4 or 8 years is really not going to help anything. By at least being willing to talk perhaps we can get a few items we want, or at least keep the extreme things out. In the end you have to play the hand you are dealt.
