Sarah Moras faces Alexis Dufresne at TUF 19 Finale

By Guilherme Cruz  @guicruzzz on May 8 2014, 11:29a

A female bout was added to The Ultimate Fighter 19 Finale card.

Sarah Moras, a member of Miesha Tate’s team on the 18th season of the reality show, has signed a contract with the promotion and faces fellow UFC newcomer Alexis Dufresne at TUF 19 Finale card on July 6 in Las Vegas, Nev., sources close to the situation told MMAFighting.com.

Moras (3-1) went to the semifinals on the reality show after submitting Peggy Morgan, but lost to season winner Julianna Pena. Prior to the show, Moras defeated Pena via TKO (doctor stoppage) at Conquest of the Cage 11 in 2012.

(Good to see Moras back in action and it being against a similarly large opponent too rather than Rakoczy. I want to see Rakoczy fight someone who is at least somewhat similar in size and would be willing to stand with her some rather then just go for the takedown.)

Thank you for posting this Thirdpres and the news on the fight! I needed to do some scouting of the competition of "The Zombie" Zomcik!

http://wombatsports.wordpress.com/2014/05/07/zomcik-versus-bell-planned-for-june/

Bell vs. Zomcik @ Gladiators of the Cage June 14.

This would have been a perfect showcase of featherweight contenders for Invicta 8. Heck, Bell is already signed, and I so want Zomcik in Invicta!!

You're welcome. Zomcik vs. Bell ought to be a great fight, would be nice on the Invicta stage if it had happened there.

I'm looking forward to it.

My rival will be young and undefeated Julia Stoliarenko from Lithuania. I respect her and be proud to beat her in 1st round. #stayundefeated

LOL. The girl is oozing confidence right now.

Moras vs Dufresne is an interesting fight, I haven't seen much of Dufresne so i'm not too sure of the outcome.

So Moras still is signed to the UFC...I was a bit confused about that tbh.

It is not that she is/was signed so much as having a TUF contract fight to get one fight in the UFC.

It is possible the UFC has decided to actually bring her onboard anyways as there has been a rash of injuries with their women's bantamweights. (Moras, of course, didn't do her TUF fight at the finale due to her own injury.) I hope that changes but I definitely want Moras in the mix in the UFC regardless.

More Moras & Dufresne

Julia Stoliarenko (1-0-1) LT 9/13

I was hoping for a more established fighter for Agnieszka Niedzwiedz but Stoliarenko at least has some experience under her belt.

She has a win over Eeva Siiskonen who has some solid standup but not enough grappling. Her other opponent has only fought once.

Carelia Fight IX, 7.9.2013, Iltaottelut - 09. Eeva Siiskonen vs. Julia Stoliarenko

I remember seeing this fight on a live-stream back when the event took place.

This fight almost took place

But it fell apart and this, the fight embedded above, is the fight that took its place for Eeva Siiskonen. I remember all this because it was a disappointment for Eeva vs. Agnieszka to be cancelled.

I hope Siiskonen gets her Cage Warrior's debut before too long.

They have in the past, a time or two, but I don't know about this one.

AAAAANNNNDDDD...it seems like everyone knows there will be an Invicta event in late June, but they just won`t come out and say it.

Yeah, I don't know what the hold up is, but it's getting very frustrating. And *SOME* of the fighters know when it is, also. Michelle Waterson posted a picture of her special prepared food. She *never* starts eating that stuff unless she has started a fight camp, exactly 6 weeks before the fight.

The anticipation is killing me.

Wow, Sarah is really getting here at the last second (fights on Sunday). The jet-lag is always worse from Japan to the U.S., but she will still be jet-lagged coming here. I hope she gets on her feet and gets ready by Sunday. She`s going to have to be sharp to overcome Rin, the 100% pro-Rin crowd, and the judges. Good luck, Sarah.

Moras vs. Dufresne...I approve.

Jasminka Cive did not look impressive vs. Bec Rawlings. I wonder how much she has improved since then. I`d have to go with Karolina in that one.

...so, an Invicta announcement any day now?

Jarl

Hope D'alelio can pull it off. I think it's just her and Zoila there.

So much quality WMMA coming up in the near future
Damn
Best of luck to Sarah but in this instance she'd better not leave it to the judges ... but I'm sure she's painfully aware of that

Really hope we can get to see the Cassie Crisano fight as well (thanks Thirdpres for putting her on my 'to watch' list)

Good action this weekend and an plenty more to look forward to fore next weekend
Excellent

Agreed and you're welcome.

Sarah D'alielo really has to take that fight, finish her opponent. Leave no options for the judges.

Indeed. But, I really think Sarah is a tough match-up stylistically for Rin. If anybody can finish her (probably RNC), I think it`s Sarah. So, we`ll see. She just needs to make weight and get a lot of sleep. :D

Agreed again. I like Sarah D'aliolo's chances of winning that fight assuming nothing ridiculous happens. I really don't want to see the referee interfering. That somewhat marred Rin Nakai's fight against Brenda Gonzales.

Nakai avoiding engaging Gonzales. The referee tells both fighters to engage rather then only Nakai and is looking pointedly at Gonzales while doing so. Gonzales responds by doing a stupid spinning fist, gets taken down with a hurt ankle as a result.

At least Nakai's last fight against Tara LaRosa was free of any stupid interference and judging misconduct.

I'm also looking forward to seeing how this one pans out -

5-9 125 Karla Benitez (11-6-0, 1NC) ES vs. Joanna Jedrzejczyk (4-0-0) PL at Arena MMA

I found the stare down!

I saw this there:

Gala Arena MMA will be accessible via www.fighttime.pl.

I guess the event starts around 1:30 PST/4:30 EST Friday. I needed to remember Daylight Saving Time. (20:30 UTC, Poland)

Karla Benitez vs Joanna Jedrzejczyk could be pretty great. Both have prolific muay thai records, so I assume it'll be a fun grappling match.

That does tend to happen. 8)

People might have seen this one already from earlier in the year.

Valentina Shevchenko (3-1-0) PE vs. Hellen Bastos (2-2-0) BR

Shevchenko is a Muay Thai (and Boxing, amongst other combat sports) fighter from Peru whose only loss is to Liz Carmouche back in 2010.

As seen in this video Shevchenko still has work to do in grappling but she is coming along and Bastos is a halfway decent fighter. Her only other loss is to Kalindra Faria in which Bastos really put the hurt on until Faria turned it around in the second round. Bastos has another fight coming up before too long. I'd like to see where they both go in MMA.

(Bastos seems to have moved down to 115 now, previously fought at 125 unless she fought Shevchenko at 135 and I'm pretty sure it was around 130 or so.)

good to c that Jedrzejczyk, Niedwiedz and Kowalkiewicz are all busy with good competition in other orgs than Invicta and CWFC ...
also Kankanpaa and other fighters found fights outside their main org

I don't say this often, but Dufresne will Kick -> Takedown -> GnP -> Sub Moras, and she will make it look easy.

I think it's a pretty good matchup for both ladies. Isn't Sarah's jitz off her back pretty good?

Did you guys see this announcement last night?

Dana White: UFC signing Holly Holm and Gina Carano 'a matter of getting a deal done' http://t.co/kmVanJnZHY

http://www.mmafighting.com/2014/5/8...coming-free-agency-i-do-want-to-get-paid-more

So Miesha thinks she should get paid more. Yeah I'm not so sure about that.

I think she picked up more fans from her TUF gig and her Rousey fights. But why is she telling that to the press? It says she has one fight left and they usually like to have a contract in place before the last fight. Is she in negotiations now and they are offering her the same money as before and she wants the public to call for a raise?
