Official Women's Division Discussion #27

Enjoyed both fights tonight.

Maia proved the better striker and didn't even need takedowns to win. Lo & behold all three judges saw it that way. Maia said post-fight that she would love to move up in the rankings but also laughed and said maybe she'll just switch places with Eye. Who knows. I liked her gutsy performance.

Huge bounce back for Aldana after that loss to Holm. When she connects in the correct spot she can hurt her opponent. Yana seemed rushed trying for the clinch and even there didn't dominate. Great exciting finish. Afterward she mentioned she's not in a hurry for a title fight. Lobo gym has Moreno, Grasso & Aldana. They're doing pretty good.

It's no like Aldana has anything for Holm and GDR, let alone Nunes. She's right with not wanting to rush herself to a title shot. I hope she doesn't get unlucky again, and have her period during her cut, almost 5 pounds overweight was a really bad look.

I'm beyond shocked that the Maia vs Eye happened, and without someone missing weight too. I thought it'd be cursed, but it went about smoothly. Good showing for both. Eye should take some serious time off and fight someone outside the Top 10 in her return, as she's once again: 1-4 in her last 5, or 0-3 in her last 3. Maia should rematch Andrade if she doesn't fight Calvillo as rumoured, since I doubt she'll fight Grasso.

Was interested to see how Maia would bounce back after her title fight loss, it was definitely a bit rough. Looked a bit tentative and afraid to get hit, she was moving & retreating more than usual instead of standing her ground and she wasn't committing on her punches and coming up short more often than usual. Fortunately Eye isn't a particularly smart fighter or she could've won that fight with a few adjustments. Maia won but it was a lot closer than it had to be.

Aldana still has all the issues from the Holm fight. When she was going after Yana she kept walking straight into kicks and had a pretty hard time getting into range to land punches. Her kick defence needs work, she was getting kicked at will in the legs & body. Yana showed a lot of aggression but questionable fight smarts. She was easily winning with her kicks but kept running at Aldana to get in close & clinch, where she wasn't doing nearly as well and getting hit with counters on the way in. Knockdown was pretty much a replay of the Vetlen Vieira fight, Yana walked face first into a left hook and down she went. Not sure why she kept wanting to trade hands with a better boxer when she could've kicked her safely from the outside and put Aldana down on points.

As bad as opinions on this forum get sometimes, I’m always reminded that YouTube is far worse. Apparently someone in my comments believes Aldana is a bad matchup for Nunes

Anyone in Pennsylvania? There's a Shevchenko seminar in Brodheadsville this coming weekend.

Other side of the state from me. Almost a 5 hour drive

Agapova is going to get wrecked. I think Mazo is better everywhere

Isn't Mazo a BW too guess turnabout is fair play after she got to smash Hannah.

Weird poster how they underline Antonina like she's the bigger draw.

Holy fucking shit. Wow.

Good for Pam. hopefully she does well where ever she goes.

Bellator? Like who else even has a Women's Featherweight division besides Bellator and Invicta? Maybe PFL but that all depends on if Kayla stays because that's the only reason why the W.LW division exists there

UFC for Amanda's annual crushing off an opponent?
