Official Women's Division Discussion #27

Nakai deserves to get another chance but she won't since the UFC and Dana doesn't give a fuck about the Asian market unless you are Chinese. Nakai should change her last name to Wong and maybe Dana could get tricked into signing her

She needs to fight some proper competition to get another chance imo. If she came and had a couple of fights in Invicta and maybe won the belt she might get another chance. She's been beating on people with 0-2 records though.

Nakai is notoriously difficult to work with. Her inactivity is solely on her and those around her.

Her husband/team is also the one behind her weird old videos too, no?

It looked like a rough cut for Irene. I may change my pick to Yana after seeing them on the scales today.

More SW main events

although this one feels rather designed to get Dern the win. Probably hits the mat within 2 rounds and it's over, rather than 5 rounds of glorious SW violence.

I actually like Rodriguez chances more in 5, she's shown good cardio, in 3 rounds Dern can get a couple take downs or clinch to take early rounds and coast, but if she gets tired and sloppy later on Rodriguez will close the show with a tko.

I didn't like Aldana s chances before, now hearing about a bad cut I feel yana throwing her around in clinch and ground is all but a lock.

That's not any worse then the Brazilian girls they sign or most of the DWCS hires. <Fedor23>

interesting, i'm the opposite - don't missed weight fighters tend to win more (pls don't hurt me @Eater of Souls i'm looking up the stats right now)
also her comment at the press conference about her last fight against holm, how she wants to do better - i'm swayed by that
finally, aldana is about 3in taller, i think she's gonna make yana pay in clinches and on the floor
my only doubt lies with her post-covid condition - during the holm fight she looked like a zombie following holm around for 3 rounds and 'm hoping her cardio has recovered and that she hasn't sustained residual heart damage

Because we were born on opposite sides of the planet, our paths have never crossed and Irene, denied her soul mate, is turning into a cat lady. It's tragic when you think about it

but there's still time for a happy ending... starting tonight, when Irene KO's this traitor to Mother Russia. Dark hair bae is bacc and with it comes her 1 round KO power that's been (mostly) AWOL since Invicta
<{JustBleed}>
(I also like the dragonscale armour she's sporting above, very fetch)

Maia/Eye is one of those fights so likely to go to decision, it ends in a round 1 KO instead (similar to Torres/Lima). But surely this fight is so decisiony it goes back to 0 then all the way up to 100% decision again? I pick Gwenhwyfar 'Demian' Maia by Decision.

oops i stand corrected:
https://mmajunkie.usatoday.com/lists/ufc-2020-by-the-numbers-year-end-stats-streaks-records-history
UFC in 2020:
"A total of 46 fighters officially missed weight for their respective contests, the single-year record in UFC history. The 32 fighters in that group who went on to compete were 10-22 in their respective bouts."
Weight misses usually mean a bad weight cut which means that they will most likely be depleted. Only rarely do you get a fighter who just says fuck it, ala Rumble Johnson

Good women's fights tonight.
Maia vs eye was what I thought a scrappy back and forth with maia being the slim better than eye at everything.

What was yana thinking she's usually so smart and patient, today she was diving in to punching distance with the best boxer the perfect way to get ko'ed. Maybe training with Santos gave her confidence that she was a better striker. Aldana did her part perfect tho took that win off the platter.
