Upcoming match up: Mayra Bueno Silva vs Manon Fiorot on September 25th

Translated: "Breaking! Mayra Sheetara vs Manon Fiorot on September 25th. More details on the Ag. Fight website coming soon...."

I like this fight will give us a sense of if Manon is the real deal.

I don't see how cynthia can beat Andrade but I hope she does.
Always excited about another hill fight.
Cortez should look good vs jj.

She's getting wrecked.

everyone's saying this, but Calvillo has a really good ground game, and Android's farm girl strength is not so completely effective at 125, I think Cyn has a chance... if Sarah Moras can nearly sub Andrade (at 135 admittedly) Calvillo surely could...

Shields couldn't defend a takedown in the first two rounds and Elkin couldn't finish her. Shields went nuts in round 3 and got the tko. After the fight Shields exclaimed 'That was crazy!' What a hot mess.

On a scale of 1-10. Skills level of both fighters: 1. Entertainment level: 4. Don't know if Shields can get much better fast. Probably not. She has a lot of heart. That & five bucks gets you a Starbucks coffee. She is however getting paid well. PFL must be happy now. I think she'll continue drawing eyes to mma. Or not.

Maybe she'll keep training hard & after 1 fight knows more what to train. Will she learn enough to defend herself against opponent who actually have skill, athleticism & experience? Probably not.

Thanks for the recap because I really wanted to see this fight but passed out like 20 minutes before it started.

Ok I finally watched the fight.

Overall:
  • The 1st thing I watch for when boxers are making the switch to MMA how their striking looks when matched with handpicked opponents they are meant to beat. Serrano and Shields clearly passed that test. they were without a doubt way better than their opponents when striking. Heather Hardy failed it miserably.

  • For the ending sequence people on the forums said that her opponent was just staying there to get punched. I clearly seen her trying to roll Shields onto her back but Shields did a good job of keeping her balance while striking. I am not saying what her opponent did was a good strategy. There is a reason why she is not a very good MMA fighter. I am just saying she did not lay there to give up the win.

  • Overall, I think this was a good fight for Shields. She has good potential if given the right opponents and enough time to learn. In my opinion, the level of opponent was fine for this fight but she needed a less grapple focused opponent for this one. It all ended up turning out well in the end. She got invaluable grappling experience and still won the fight. Shields also had great cardio. She did not look tired at all.

Striking:
  • Great speed and punching power. It is good enough where anyone not named Nunes or Cyborg will have to respect it. She might be pillow fists with boxing gloves but it seemed like she hits hard in MMA gloves.
  • She experimented with leg kicks. She also had no idea how to check them.
  • Already has good GNP.

Grappling:
  • She is a novice which is to be expected with when she started. However, you can already see the building blocks being formed with fundamental grappling slowly being utilized.
  • She had some real nice sprawls. You can tell they trained that a lot.
  • Multiple times right after being taken down she instantly worked to get her back to the cage.
  • Stayed calm and did not panic when in the worse positions for extended periods of time.
  • She got back up from a takedown at least once.
  • Understandably had low IQ in some situation due to her being a novice. She had chances to disengage the grappling a few times but chose to go back in and ended up paying the price for it.
  • In the second round she knew what to do to avoid mount from side control. The problem was it took her too long to recognize the situation so she did it too late and she used the wrong leg to try and block the pass. This will improve with more experience.
